Does the factory alarm have a glass sensor??
I was told by a local Alarm installer that the factory alarm from Acura has a glass sensor microphone, but no shock sensor? Therefore it's a pretty decent alarm.
Is this correct? From everything I have read here, it doesn't seem that the factory system has a glass sensor? They recommended using the factory alarm, with a DEI unit that will give me remote start, Door lock\unlock and trunk pop, instead of using a Viper 550 that will give me the alarm\remote start\doors\trunk pop, etc....
I have always had a Viper alarm with both shock and glass, remote start, trunk, and I am nervous about using the factory alarm!
I'd like to hear what you guys think???

No glass sensor. I have had both types of alarms before, but none right now. Where are you driving to from Ashland (i.e. for work)? I didn't think Ashland was all that bad, but to each their own.
I would go with the one with the glass sensor, just to be safe. And a remote start is a great idea for us here in the snow!
Good Luck!

Unfortunately, I commute to Bedford every day....what a haul! But it's a lot more fun since I got the TL Ashland is actually a safe town, but I go to a gym in Framingham, and go to the Natick mall\Rte. 9 area quite often. So, I want something more than the factory system, which doesn't sound like it will give me much peace of mind!

Seems to me that the mic. is tuned for something like a gun shot...same thing happened in my friends tl. Only that people broke in thru the windows...and no alarm siren went off.
