Also, where is the best :read cheapest: place to get 2 replacement bulbs. My passenger side is VERY purple now so I fear that is going to die soon. I am thinking they should be replaced as pairs.

99-03 TLs have D2R. And usually it is best to replace in pairs as you stated.

PM akinaboy on here. He can usually get them pretty cheap. Or search for seller akinaboy an ebay. You'll want to get two or else the color will be different between the two.

 

2nd gen have d2r and 3rd gen have d2s. d2s are projector HIDs. You can use d2s in a 2nd gen with a little modification.

 

D2R are for all reflective type HID and D2S are for projector.

Bought a set from Akinaboy when my headlight turned violet. It failed two days later. D2R is what you need and the install was easy if you know how to work with tools.

Which bulbs did you use? If they were new they couldnt just blow in 2 days unless you really got some dirt on them, or touched them with your fingers.

I'm assuming(hoping) the ones that started to turn violet(the old ones) blew two days later????
