Do you think the Type S speedo was re-calibrated from the TLP?
Stock TLP wheels - 205/60/16 MXV4
Diameter : 25.6 inches
revs/mile : 813
Stock TLS wheels - 215/50/17 MXM4
Diameter : 25.5 inches
revs/mile : 819
Did they recalibrate or just leave it? My guess is they just left it.
But the important implication is that if you're trying to calculate speedo error, you have to compare revs/mile to 813
eg. Some 228/40/18 tires have up to 830 revs/mile which is slightly over 2% error or 1.3% depending what you compare it to.
The good news is Kumho 712 are 824 revs per mile in 225/40/18. So you get a closer speedo match without the added diameter if you're worried about rubbing.

highly doubt they recalibrated it. spedos are not very accurate. the tire new and the tire when needed to be replaced will give you different speeds just due to wear. just my .02

They did not recalibrate it. Its actually much worse than that, All manufactures, including Honda/Acura, are only required by the law to have their speedometers acurate within 10% of actual. Over the years Honda as gotten wise to the fact that if their regular production speedos leave the factory calibrated to read at 7% - 9% fast that their customers will void their factory warranty 7%-9% quicker since their cars rack extra miles on them. Saves Honda big bucks and costs their customers big bucks. You can beat the system by running oversized wheel/tires or having your speedo calibrated at a speedometer shop. I heard this from a contact that is a longtime employee at American Honda. Sucks the big ASS but it's within the law. I checked my TL with a a friends baseball radar gun, and mine reads fast by 5 mph at 60 mph (The speedo said 60 mph but the radar gun said 55) Frickin Honda...ought to be ashamed of themselves......

Oh wow, I had more faith in them and figured they do it right... That's a shame Honda does that....
