I do the same. I usually wash my car twice then clay and then wash again. Just to make sure I get as much dirt off the car and then I wax...

You don't wanna wax on top of cheap car wash waxes and dirt. I'd say clay bar , then wash with dawn then wax.

go with the plain blue original dawn. Don't use any of that scented stuff.
I do: dawn, clay, dawn, meg's GC wash, dry, then polish, seal.

A lot use dawn because that's what Sal recommends it for Zaino. I haven't tried any others.

I dont use it all the time, I put coats of s100 on all the time after just a good wash, but when I want to strip it down and clay, or use Klasse and then top with s100, I use Dawn also.

I have a question for you guys. Once the winter subsides, I will be spending one weekend detailing the car.

Anyhow, obviously I will use Dawn to break through all the old wax and to remove it, however, can I do this..?

1) wash car with dawn soap
2) clay bar
3) wash car again with dawn
4) eagle one car wash
5) then start with all the good stuff, paint cleaner, polish/wax

is it necessary to use eagle one car wash, or should I use dawn as my replacement soap???

thanks

sc354, your process sounds fine. That's actually what i do for an "overhaul" session. Step 4 with the EO wash will get rid of any dawn residue (if any). I just rinse excessivly after that last wash.

You can actuall skip step 3 and go to step 4 no benefit in washing the car with 2 different soaps before waxing/ polishing.
