Do you carry full coverage insurance on your Acura?

So after purchasing my '99 TL, I had to make a decision on what type of insurance coverage I would carry. I already have three other vehicles and two other drivers on my policy, so my premiums are a bit on the high side. I weighed how much it would cost for full coverage compared to the value of the vehicle and decided on liability coverage. I'm a good driver and have a pretty nonexistent accident history. I've often thought about this decision though and wondered if I should up my coverage in the event of theft.

Just curious as to who thinks it's necessary to carry full coverage on their Acuras.

depends on whether or not you can replace/fix things that are your fault and not someone else's. For my older cars, I just carry liability only.

if the value of the car is less than $5k, I drop full coverage and carry liability on that vehicle.

Yeah the depreciation of the TL makes it Liability Only... No point in full coverage when the car is praised at less than 5K...
Now my MDX has full coverage I bought it wayyy below its current market price so in the case of full loss I will be +3-4K up

I think my 2010 RDX is still worth full coverage so that's what I have. My insurance is Geico. I've had them for years, they've always been very good for me.

On a 99 tl, not in a life time would I put full coverage on it. However on 10k+ cars I do put full coverage. Current MDX is going for 18-20k with trim and mileage so most definitely on full coverage.

I have full coverage on all my cars including my oldest 2 cars that are 24years old, personal preference for me. Also another deciding factor for coverage, unlikely for anyone here, is if theres a loan on the car the lienholder will require full coverage.

My insurer actually called me to let me know that it may not be worth it to keep due to my high deductable and car value. I asked my insurer what the strings attached to dropping collision insurance and I travel quite a bit and I rent cars often, many times for personaly use on vacations. My insurer told me that my collision insurance(full coverage) is the only way that insurance would be able to provide me insurance when renting a car. I typically deny the rental car coverage that is $25 plus a day. If I dropped my collision insurance, I would not have collision coverage when renting a car. I am one of the poor soles that only has my second generation TL as my only vehicle. FYI- I think I pay like $900 a year for full coverage in Ohio, so I don't see it to be much of a savings, if I dropped it.

There are some credit cards that have Primary Rental Car Coverage that may do you some good if that's the only reason you're keeping it on. http://thepointsguy.com/2015/07/cred...tal-coverage/\

Chase Sapphire Preferred comes to mind. $95 annual fee but pay the rental car with it and you'll be covered through Visa for primary rental car insurance. Surely your collision coverage is more than $95 a year.

It's funny... I just removed collision from my 2004 Toyota Camry...but for some reason, I still have collision and liability on my 2003 Acura TL-S...

My car is in pristine condition and has some perceived value to me...but at the end of the day, I know I am basically covered for whatever Kelly Bluebook (or equivalent) says my car is worth, regardless of my perception... Based on that, I think I am going to kill collision and just keep liability and comprehensive (comprehensive is so cheap, and I like being covered for windshield replacements, and such)...

When I had my 2000 TL I had full coverage because I'm a college student who parks on campus.

Being a college student, I never had money and needed my car, so I needed the $2500 it was valued at if something happened to it.

When we had mine, it was liability/comp/uninsured, no collision.
Had full on our Civic though, until we got the new truck.

I still have full coverage on my 99. But probably going to be dropping soon with so little value left in it.
