Do i need new fog lights?

Ok my foglights work but, they are not as bright as they should be one of them has a big crack down the middle, they both have rock chips on them, they both have this gray crusty stuff in them, Some say if they arent broke dont fix them.

What do you think?

If they don't help you with their intended use, then you'll probably want to have that cleaned up / fixed. If you go through the dealer, it will cost you $$$. They don't sell the glass separately -- they sell you the entire fog light housing + glass. And we all know 'factory' stuff isn't cheap.

I'd say go to Lowe's or Home Depot and find the high temp Lexan plastic and some high temp silicon (GE brand, for instance). Cut the Lexan to the right size (use a Dremel or some other similar tool). Find some clamps and glue the Lexan pieces to the fog light housing you have ... and you're all set.

WOW, there is no way I'd ever let them get that bad. They need to be replaced ASAP. While you are at it you should get an HID kit for them. They are about $100 on ebay.

I know the front is glass but what are the back of the fogs made of?

My wannabe fogs on the CL are plastic housing all around.

Wonder if they could just replace the front with glass too... Then I could get HID fogs.

I thought they were glass?

Otherwise wouldn't the housings melt with HID's?

looks like the housings and bulbs have been exposed to the elements for quite a while now. Changing your bulbs out might increase the brightness only for a little while but eventually I would spring for new foglights.

They also make these plexi replacement lenses
