Do I have to be fully stop to switch transmission from D4 to D5?

I wouldn't say that...my original post said I put the car in neutral going down hills. Someone replied and said it could damage the car and I wasn't supposed to do it. I asked for the technical explanation...there is none. It's just for "safety". No reason to start an argument.

As for the guy asking what would happen if you shift into reverse doing 65....I think that was more sarcasm than anything.

I'm not 100 percent sure but here it goes......If you are going 65 or 70 you are revving like 2500 or so rpm's. You then shift in to neutral. You are now revving 900 or so. You then shift into drive again when your wheels are spinning at 65 or 70 mph your transmission has to decide what gear it needs to go in, causing the engine to go from idle back to the original 2500 like a mini neutral drop.....hope that helps
