Do headlights turn off automatically if the key leaves the ignition?

If you shut off the engine, left headlights on, and w/out open any of the doors, the headlights will shut off after 10 minutes.
Same as above, but open either of the front doors, and locked the car, the headlights will shut off after 15 sec.

I was wondering...
Even though it does turn off automatically, I heard it's not good to do that...apparently the battery lastst longer if you turn everything off before, anyone else hear this?

Not necessary, from my understanding, Xenon uses far less electricity once lite up... it has MUCH lower drain on the battery compare to normal, Halogen bulbs.
I have accidently left my 400SE parking lights and front dome light on overnight, and was still able to start up the car at ease the next morning....
There shouldn't be any concern about leaving the lights on, esepcially when we have automatic off feature..
