DIY Video: Replacing Headlight Housing & Ballast on a 2003 Acura TL Type-S
Hi All,
When I replaced my headlight housings and ballasts about a year ago, I decided to take some video of the process, in case it might be helpful to others... I only now found the time and energy to edit and post the video to YouTube...
It's by no means a professionally edited video... It is actually the first DIY video that I have ever attempted... I did my best to edit it down to something semi-watchable (the raw video was an hour and a half long!!!). I got it down to about 22 minutes...
Hopefully this video removes some of the mystery for those of you who have never done something like this and are ready to tackle the job yourself...
It really was not that difficult a job... Just takes a little time and patience...
Good luck!
I don't know why the video shows up twice in my post...I only pasted the YouTube URL once... If one of the moderators can fix, that would be fantastic...

There is an easier way to connect the ballast from the OEM connector:
2X Nissan Infiniti Matsushita Ballast to Aftermarket Power Wire Cable Plugs | eBay
This basically now makes it truly Plug & Play.

That cable hasn't been that long in the wild.. I think not even a year since that is the only supplier at least on Ebay. I recently ordered a pair to replace my MDX OEM Ballasts but the culprit was the bulbs :smh:

Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Hopefully some other users find it helpful. I changed my ballasts/bulbs one year ago, and I know it would have been nice to see a video prior to doing it (not that it was hard, but seeing it first is always nice!).

I agree... I had a bunch of questions when I did mine last year... Having a video like this would have taken the mystery out of what was involved... As you say, it wasn't a terribly difficult job...

Can you link me to those heat shrink female adapter thing you used to connect the ballast to the factory wire. The one were you chopped off and attached the heatshrink/female end.
Thanks.

Where did you end up deciding to install the new ballast? Did you decide to cover up the hole at the bottom of the headlamp housing, or did you leave it completely open for heat venting?
Did you end up getting the blacked out headlamp housings?
Any hiccups at all, or were you able to get through it pretty flawlessly?
