DIY: Turn Signal Replacement (Driver's Side Front)

DIY: Turn Signal Replacement (Driver's Side Front)

The turn signal light is accessible through the front wheel well. Alternately, it looks like one could remove the bumper...but this seemed easier of the two.

1. Remove front left tire
a. Loosen lugs with car on the ground
b. Lift car using hydraulic jack center/front jack point
c. Placed jack stand under left front jack point
d. Remove lugs and pull off tire
2. Remove Fender clips from inner fender
a. Start with the clips at the front of the wheel well and work backwards until you can create enough space to get your hand/arm behind the inner cover. I used a small screwdriver to pry up the inner tabs. Most of these broke/crumbled when I removed them...the plastic was brittle after 14 years. Maybe there's a special tool for this? I had two dozen new clips from a previous repair on hand so I didn't worry about breaking these (part number 91501-S04-003). In all, I removed ~6 clips.
b. There's a 10mm bolt under the front bumper that I removed also.
3. Pull down the inner fender liner, reach in to locate the light. Twist the light housing socket (to the left) to remove from the light assembly.
4. Remove light and replace with new amber bulb and test/confirm that signal is now working correctly.
5. Put it all back together.

Next time I'll pull the bumper and see how this works out.
