DIY: S2K Push Button Start
oh and by the way, all those engine start buttons that you see only START the engine. there is no way for them to turn it off.
unless you get the Toyota/Lexus style button.
unless you get the Toyota/Lexus style button.
Well I'm hoping that you would want to take the key out of your car anyway, so that's not a big deal. The Toyota/Lexus style would be a really big project.
I tried to make the diagram dummy proof. Do you have any specific questions about the process?
Ooh ok sweet. Uuum yeah. What do you connect to the little relay and how do you connect them? and what exactly goes to the battery? Im more of a hands on kind of guy so thats why i didnt really get it.
Well ok this is what the relay looks like.

You can kinda see how you can wrap a wire around each prong of the relay. Each prong is labeled on the relay and in the diagram.
The diagram shows you exactly which wire goes where. To be honest, none of the power wires need to go to the battery. They can be tapped into your cig lighter. Its personal preference. The reason I went from the prong marked 30 on the relay to my battery was because I already had a wire coming from my battery powering my footwell lighting. So I just tapped into that.
The wire coming from the S2K engine start button that says 12V +Switched means that it needs to be connected to a power source that is not constantly receiving power from the battery. If it was connected to a constant power source, the red LED light inside the engine start button would be draining the battery slowly. That is why the engine start button is connected to my add-a-fuse for my fog light mod. It only receives power when the key is in the ON position.
Unfortunately, all the wires are already tucked away and I do not have the time (semester is in session) to make a real DIY video to physically show exactly how to connect everything. I thought the wiring diagram would be sufficient.

Yeah it might be a while before someone else makes a better DIY. Mine is the first one I have actually seen for a specific Acura model.
Im studying mechanical engineering. Junior year. Workload and stress is unbelievable. Acurazine is my getaway haha.

I havent gotten a chance to mount the button yet. Right now its kinda just wedged between the gauges and the steering column.
Ill try to take some pics of the wiring soon.

Ok so i could connect the red wires straight to the battery correct? Where do i connect the blue wire to? does it go to the relay at all? Ill be mounting my button like right below my right knee on the panel. i took it out. theres enough space there. or if you want you can get a guage pod and mount it by the little door pillar thingy. Im thinking if i should go to UTI to study on acuras and hondas after i get out of the Marine Corps. Idk yet.
You can connect the red wire coming from prong 30 on the relay to the battery.
If you connect the red wire coming from the starter button to the battery, the LED on the starter button will be illuminated constantly, even with the car turned off. Unless you want that, I recommend tapping into a source which has power only when the car is turned on, like the cigarette lighter, or in my case, the fog light mod add-a-fuse.
The blue wire connects exactly like the diagram says it should. It connects from prong 1 on the engine start button to prong 86 on the relay.

well its still up in the air. i definitely going all back to stock, except the coilovers. im keeping those till the last minute.
but im going to restore it to selling condition all this summer. i just dont have the time anymore to deal with all the little problems that pop up as these cars age. plus the transmission is a ticking time bomb lol. im going to be a Senior now and have to deal with my engineering senior design project and im living off campus and will be doing a lot of traveling so i need a reliable car to get me places. im thinking about getting a lease. maybe a Gen coupe 2.0 6mt
