Different types of springs

Before I ask, I'm wondering if there's anyway to avoid removing the whole back seat when installing the springs. Do you really require this part of installing the springs?

Secondly, I'm looking for a nice drop. I want to be able to notice it, but not looking to turn my driving style into a grandmother when going over bumps. Will I have to go like 3 MPH over speed humps/bumps? What's the best type of spring to put on that doesn't force me to change my driving style? I've heard CT are good, but wayyyy wayyyy more pricey then H & R. I'm looking for the best and cheapest solution, so if CT is going to set me back 700 cdn, then forget it. I'm looking to pay somewhere in the range of 500 cdn installed.

lemme know

thanks guys.

you rock!!!

i had mine dropped 2 weeks ago!! i installed comptechs. They're fu**ing sweeeeet! ride comfort is almost near stock, a lil bit stiffer. the drop is definately noticeable, but it's not slammed to the floor. It's a clean drop! and lastly... you do need to remove your seat to get to the rear springs! it's not hard! U just have to becareful when u pull it out, or you'll cut your leather like my dumbass did! after unscrewing it. make sure when u pull the back rest up, hold it up, because there's sharp metal on the very bottom of the back rest! my dumbass didn't know and placed it on top of the ass part of the seat and cut it!

I think that if I have it done, I won't do it myself. I'll take it too a shop who has experience with installing springs on TL's.

Would you mind posting pics of the drop. I think I've seen the CT drop and I wouldn't mind something in b/w the CT drop and the H&R Sport drop.

let me know

thanks

Spend the extra $$ for the comptechs. The drop is nice, but it still feels like stock. No camber kit needed and you can still use your stock shocks. I almost had them in my car for 2 years. no problems at all.

Just got CT's installed 3 weeks ago and loving it. My Civic had Neuspeeds and I love those springs if the slammed looked is what your looking for. But I wanted to still enjoy my ride, not be paranoid of potholes, etc. These springs are awesome, it's a clean/tasteful drop as mentioned earlier. Definitely CT, it's worth the extra money!

can someone post pics of their ride with the CT springs on. BTW I would prefer to see a pic with a body kit, since I have one.

thanks guys.

you are awesome

what do you guys think about the Eibach kit? it seems reasonably priced and drops the car more. I did see pics of the CT springs, it definitely gives the car a cleaner and neater look.

How do you guys find the handling? Does it make a big difference in the feel of the car??? And did you have to change your driving style at all (decrease) after putting these springs on? i.e. going 10 MPH over speed humps instead of 25 MPH?

IMHO, if you don't consider comptechs, consider H&R. H&R has the same heighth drop as the CT's and cheaper! Ride quality almost the same, but not as quite. and it does seem that H&R and CT's are the two most popular springs that are put on TL's. but that's just my opinion.

Had them both on this car, H&R's equalize the wheel well gap front to rear, sports are more of a drop than CT's and are stiffer ride. CT's are leave a raked look, are closer to stock ride comfort and not quite as much of a drop.

I have CT and the ride with stock shocks is quite bouncy.

I can't imagine what it would be like with the pro kit.

You can pick up CT's used for about $200 or even less. Alternatively, on www.torontoaccords.com there are a few people selling H&R sports which would allow you to save on shipping.

(CT are the only ones designed for the TL, H&R and Eibach are designed for the Accord V6 which is why the actual drop on a TL is not the same as they specify).

for cheap installation, see the affiliates at TAC as well.

Although according to Rob at H&R they have since changed that, hence the new part number... no idea if thats accurate

I just checked and you are partially right!

The H&R sport part number for the TL is 50103 which is different than that for the Accord V6.

Only problem is you'd probably not be able to find a set used just yet!

These may be the springs of choice!!!!

On the other hand, maybe they just took the sport front, the oe rear and rebadged them :-)

Ya they used to sell you 51858 's for the TL/TL-S ...

But if they are just rebadged, then one would be in the same boat. Sports dropped me 3", wheel well to ground including going from 50 to 45 series tires.

I love my H/R sports with 1 finger gap all around. But I'd not mind if the drop is 0.5 " less than now. I do need to be careful going over curbs and avoid potholes with diligence

I agree the look and handling were great, didn't care for how firm they were, kinda like a little of the luxury ride.

yah I do like Tatewaki's drop a lot, but the problem is one word, "Dad". He drives too. That's why a "1 finger" all around might not be sufficient. I think I'm gearing more towards either the H&R Sport OE, or the CT Springs. Even though the CT springs are more expensive, rather be safe then sorry. The last thing I want is my dad coming home with the car keys in one hand, and the side skirt in the other, with a pissed off look on his face.

CT might be the way to go!!!

I'd say used comptech if you can get em is a no brainer.

Alternatively, if these new H&R sports that are designed specifically for the TL are real and not just a rebadge then they could be good as well. The spec on those is 1.75 front 1.5 rear
