Question Different color codes for black

so i got into a slight fender bender and had to replace my bumper. the garage wanted to know my color code so i gave it to them. the day i pick it up he tells me my car is blue...as you can see on my sig below i bought black. he says that there are four different shades of black that acura has, and i got the metallic blue one. it actually looks fine, but have any of you heard this before?

There is a color code on you driver side door. One for external and one for internal. It had either an A or F after the number.

yea, i gave him the code, and when he looked for the paint, acura apparently told him that there were four different blacks and that mine was the metallic blue one.

Haven't you noticed the blue flakes in your paint? In bright sunlight look real close.

Yes. Everyone need to get those code before buying a touch up paint or doing a repaint on the body.

I believe the body shop meant Acura makes vehicles with four different types of black. Depending on the year, make and model, you get a different paint code as subtle variations exist from year to year. I'm sure the same holds true for white. Look at the two blues that are offered for 2002--Eternal Blue and Aegean Blue. Although those are visually different you have to wonder why a company would market a vehicle in shades so close together. Why not a bright red or something (I'd love a TL-S in bright red )? Someone with a black 2002 TL-S should park next to a black 1999 TL and see if there is a visual difference. Apparently Acura decided to add blue into the black for 2002 to give it a little shimmer. And the black on the MDX may be different from the TL, etc.
