Didn't even get to say hi first.

Well guys, I've been lurking for a while. I was reading all the reviews to help me make a decision on a new car. On the 18th I bought a 2000 Acura TL, grey exterior, grey leather interior, cd/tape, auto trip-tronic 5-speed.

Here's a picture:

So the next day(19th), as I was driving home from my radio show, a defense attorney ran a red light and tagged my baby. When I saw him coming he was gonna hit the front of the car, but I accelerated and he tagged the back passenger side, and I and the car did a 720.

Here's the damage:

Wrecked Pic #3

So anyway, I am F---ed. I paid $19,500 for the car on the 18th, which was almost brand new, only 31,000 miles. I had traded in a 1996 Altima, which I owed $3500 they gave me $3200 for it at the dealership. The insurance company of the guy that hit me, says it's repairable, and they estimate only $8,000 in damage(The air bags went off passenger side).

If they fix it, even if I demand Acura parts and new equipment instead of remanufactured or salvaged parts, will it ever drive the same?

Is there anybody with any advice on this topic. I have had my cars hit before, but I either owned them for a while, or had paid off most of it, or it was a situation where the guy did me a favor for wreck my "piece of S--t car".

Well, I hope to be driving an Acura again soon, sorry for the downer, but I was really looking forward to posting some pics of my new ride to introduce myself.

I'm gonna go cry now.

DAMN THESE ****ING BAD ****ING ****TY DRIVERS! That pisses the hell out of me!!! I'm so sorry to hear about this. Damn it..... makes me furious. Well, I'm not sure, I've never been in a wreck, and hope to hell I'll never be in one, especially now, since I lost my license and am driving anyways. Oh, and by the way, I think you've got laguna green pearl or something, with fern leather.

I believe there may be some recent case law that addresses the issue of compensation for dimunition in value of a car that has been in an accident and repaired, on the theory that it will always be worth less in a sale to a potential next buyer, than an identical vehicle that had not been in an accident.

Thanks for the advice

Thanks for all the info. I'll have to look into that diminutive value thing. I hired a lawyer just because of the nature of this case. It's gonna be a rough road, but I'll keep you guys updated.

Not sure why the wrecked photos aren't show ing up, but if you wanna see em they are wreck1.jpg, wreck2.jpg, and wreck 3.jpg in this path http://www.100proofradio.com/media

Thanks again for joining me in a 24 valve salute!

Your link doesn't work.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I just purchased a 2002 TL-S a few weeks ago and I would just be devastated if this happened to me. I would look a getting the car fixed by the insurance company and then sell it and find another one. Hopefully you can perhaps come out ahead monitarily with your lawyer. Maybe you can get an estimate for genuine parts and then get the check and fix it with third party parts and then save the extra cash so that you ensure that you come out ahead. Sell it and buy another one.
