detailing the rims

I wonder how you guys clean and polish the alloy rims.
It seems the Mequiars wheel cleaner spray donesn't help to get rid of the brake dust. I also tried pressurized car wash, doesn't work either.

My rims have a lot of scratch on the clear paint due to a visit to an auto-car wash. I buffed them with Mequiars scrach-x, and the scrach went away for a while, and comes back again. More seriously, I never parked near curb, but there is still some scratch on the alloy wheel. So how you guys deal with these annoying things?

I wash my car and rims every 2 weeks (or sooner). I use regular car wash soap/water and a boar's hair brush. How bad is the brake dust ? IMO, I wouldn't use acid based cleaners. You might want to check out something like Eimann Fabrik HI or P21S from

I stay away from car washes because I usually don't know what they are using. From my experiences, car washes use some pretty intense stuff to clean the cars. While it may clean off a lot of junk, it can also be bad to your paint and rims.
I avoid curbs at all cost as well.
Have any pics ?

Wax your rims

Makes them shinier and harder for the dust to adhere.
