Detailed the car...scrubbed out the engine bay...then got sideswiped...help?
Hey all!
So I had anticipated showing off my wonderful detailing skills (I still will haha) but I was involved in a hit and run the other day. they got my driver rear door pretty good. Not too hard, but nonetheless they drove off
so I spent the good portion of a day buffing out the red paint from the other car and then I removed the door panel and pushed out the dent.
Happy to report that for the most part, the dent is gone. but I got a good hit at the beltline and I don't know what to do to get that dent out...I have no problem taking the door panel off, and I'm sure I can figure out how to undo the door too but will heat work on the belt line? I just don't know what to do so I'd REALLY appreciate some advice.
anyways, here's the pics of the detailing and the damage.

any help would be greatly appreciated
and I still have more buffing to go, the fine scratches take a bit more work

I use dry ice on smaller dents and dings--has done wonders on the parking lot stuff
cant hurt to test in a small area!!
get 1lb for about a dollar at many grocery stores- thats plenty
WEAR GLOVES!!!!!! we are talking subzero!! temps sitting in a chunk of `ice`
use all precautions to protect from severe burn,,,guess how I know
see youtube for good vids on procedure--heat gun/hair dryer then ice, pop! heat then ice popop! heat and ice...

HEAT then cold
a proper heat gun at harbor freight about 10 bucks--big sale today july 4
just a can of cold isnt the same as heat then cold
the dry ice last longer and is cheaper to operate~

^oh I know!
yeah I went and grabbed a heat gun from home depot (15 bucks) and it worked a hell of a lot better than a blow dryer did!
and I have no clue where to purchase dry ice in my area. I checked all the supermarkets and all the home improvement stores, hell even a beverage center. nada. thankfully compressed air did the trick. you just have to make sure the panel is beyond hot.

weird, most of the supermarkets in my area of Ca have it,, great for camping ice chest
ck phone book under dry ice,,might be a big warehouse- see if they will sell 1-2 lbs
comes in 10 lb blocks to the stores and they break off what you need
as said before-= canned compressed air for computer dusting works well too-
I dont remember--did you have to turn the can upside down???

^Yeah you do, you need the actual compressed CO2 particles to come out or it won't work.
JUST AN UPDATE. for my dent, the compressed air trick wasn't going to work that well because it was near the beltline so there was a crease in the middle of the dent.
NOT TO WORRY. I took the door panel off again and got out my new trusty heat gun and blasted heat on the opposite side until the metal was malleable and then slowly molded it back into place. then I sprayed compressed air upside down on the metal to cool it off. and it reset into place and save for some left over scratches which i can buff out it looks good as new.

You flattened out the metal along the body line. Nothing will "pop" that out.

yeah the professionals say its a crok because if you knew about it,,,half their biz would be gone~
It works very well on parking lot dings -from shopping carts and minor door dings (not on precise angles as noted above-but flat surface good)
go to youtube- the vids are not faked of heat and dry ice in action
I have used it, many ziners have
Who do you trust more- the person who has `potential income` at stake from you-- and everyone with an internet connection....
or the people who used a money saving trick and share it here?

it's looking mighty fine. I'll have to finish buffing it and take some more pics. I'd obviously have liked it a lot more if I never got hit in the first place!

From my other post where N1njai asked the same question.
^henry brought up this same thing in my other post.
I do have coils, not something that I would lie about for no reason lol. I bought them used and used my old nuts, they are rusted really bad but they still work! I think what's going on is the top hat is sitting just a bit lower because most of the lugs are rusted through the first few rungs (I had to take my car to monro muffler when I first lowered it initially and they used heat tools to take the nuts off). I'll take more pics from different angles if you guys really need proof.

lolol.. it's fine if you reused your old rusted nuts.. i don't understand who would in the first place anyways. would make perfect sense for the previous owner to provide you with the ones that came originally with the coils cause he could've reused his stock nuts.
and everyone here usually knows i'm not a dick, but i just thought i'd point it out since you claimed you had ff1's but you didn't want to go lower and kept bringing up the NY road BS when other people on here with 2g's and in NY are wayyy lower and drive static in NY. i can name a few if you'd like.
your passenger's side strut housing is sitting lower than your driver's btw. and even if your nuts were rusted.. the studs would still be golden yellow, especially the middle but it's all faded/rusted out. plus, there's so much gap from your spring/shock setup that the middle of the strut housing doesn't fit perfectly snug around the circle like the pictures of our legit FF1's are. cmon.. you can't possibly be that bad at tightening nuts.

lol.... this thread is funny.....
i like the idea of ur shifter, but you executed it pretty bad....
the purple bag doesn't even go with black with wood interior.....
here's mine, I removed the shiftgate cover so that the cloth can move freely rather than being restricted by the cover
