Question Debadging Help

I'm getting ready for my spring mods, one of which will be debadging my TLS. How exactly do I debadge? I've read to use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive, then dental floss or fishing line to run behind the badge. Is this the best way? Is there some sort of sticky residue that is left on the car? If so, what is the best way to get it off without stripping the wax off of the car?

My wife picked up a new Mountaineer this weekend and it has a HUGE dealer badge on it! Got to get that one off as well!!

My other spring mods are going to be the OEM body kit and H&R Sport Springs. I can't wait....

You pretty much have it....

I did exactly what you mentioned.... heated up the badges with a blowdryer, then used dental floss behind the badges and removed them from the car. Of course there's a little residue left behind, so I used a dab (read: VERY LITTLE) Turpentine on a rag and removed the goo that was left behind. Then I claybarred and waxed the area and Voila... looks like there was never a badge there. Don't worry about removing a little wax... just get the goo all off and re-wax the area. BTW... the whole process took about 10 min., with about 8 of those min. spent heating up the 3 badges I removed (ACURA, TL 3.2, and TYPE-S).....

As for the Mountaineer.... if it's brand new the dealer should remove it for you no questions asked.... just bring it back to them.

I did the same as Juniorbean did.....except I used Goo Gone instead of turpentine. One word of caution...dont cantilever the letters or the badges when you take them off. You should be sure to pull them STRAIGHT off. If you cantilever them, the edges will probably gouge your paint.

BTW - Im debating pulling the A off the back, having the 2 holes filled and repainting. Going to ask my dealer what they would charge me to do that.
