If you remove the Acura symbol, there will be holes. The letters ACURA and the TL(S), don't have any holes behind them.

no, the only badge that has holes is the A in the middle...everything comes right off, just have to clean the gunk off the letters.

Does anyone have pics or links of a 2004 TL de-badged?
I am thinking of de-badging the Acura or the TL or perhaps both.
I would then go with just an Acura Tag frame.

okay.. i debadged my rear today.. took off the "A C U R A" and the "3.2TL".. and it left some kinda of really, i mean really sticky stuff, some kind of paste or something they used to stick those badges on.. and it was hard to take it off! but then i wanted to complete the procedure b`cuz i didn`t want to drive around with the paste on and go home and post and ask how i take it off.. so i tried evertyhing i can to take off the paste, and it came to the point where i had to use a knife to scrape it off.. not with a sharp tipped one, it is round on at the tip, i used that to scrape off the paste, and the paste still isn`t completely taken off! =( u can still see a little bit, but u can`t feel it, it feels like there is no paste there, but u can still see it, n i`m takin` my car to a car wash this weekend for a full wash, polish and everything.. and i`m hoping it woudl come off.. does anyone know if it`ll come off? and also, the knife left a few scratches =( but u can`t really see it, i covered it up with temporary black paint.. anyone?

You should have clayed the area to remove the leftover "paste".

Get goo gone... from like Target or something it takes it right off... or use turtle wax that worked for me to... let it get hard and then try to scrape it with ur nails- only cuz if u use a knife or blade it willl leave scratches and you can see it in daylight

Hey guys, I have an '04 black TL and I too am planning on removeing the "ACURA" and the "TL" from the back. I found that on my car the badges are on with what appears to be those double sided foam-like tape. I just want to know if products like Goo-Gone will fade or damage the paint in any way?

Anyone out there with a de-badged '04?

it will not damage the paint, just make sure that you dont scrub the remaining wax/residue with anything that is harsh, use something very soft.....

I poured Goo-Gone on the top and all over the creaks on the ACURA,,let it sit there for 30 mins, applied some more, then took floss and very slowly removed the lettering...then a wax job or some minimum buffing will do the job later.

I actually like the ACURA emblem on the 04, i would only remove the TL.

good luck peace

Thanks teknoking! After reading through some other threads on the subject I proceeded to remove the badges without a single hitch. Since my car is only a few weeks old, I guess the adhesive has not dried completely. The floss cut right through it and the Goo Gone took the glue off with just a little nail scraping. No need to wax or buff. You can't tell that there was ever anything there.

I will post some pictures soon. After going through hurricanes Frances and now Jeane, my car is filthy

I just removed the 3.2TL and got all the 'rubbery' stuff off, but there's still an outline of the badge.

I've tried Goo Gone, Bumper Sticker Remover, WD40, and gasoline (I was careful)....Nothing is taking this off.

Any ideas?

I can also feel what's left on the car, so I'm thinking if I had something that would scrape it off (without scratching the paint) it'd come off. I wonder if it's because it's only 28F outside?

Well, after a trip to the store to get rubbing compound and polishing compound then spending 30 minutes getting the scratches out of the paint, I know I am not removing the A C U R A!

The freaking dealer left their logo on the back, i;ve taken most of it off but some is still left, it was like a sticker. I noticed it comes off easier just after washing, and even easier when i spray some of the Mquires (sp.) spray-and-wax-as-you-dry stuff from autozone. The stuff shines like no other, got people turning heads every-which-way!!!

My dealer uses a license plate frame on the back and a plate on the front. The plate is kinda nice looking, doesn't look out of place on an Acura. No stickers.

Mines left imprints too. You have to polish it. It`ll come off, I had a bodyshop do that for me when I got into an accident.

try eagle one's Never Dull, it worked for me. I brought my car used and the old owner seem to put super glue on it, after arubbing it with Never Dull, I got it off. And the glue looked like it messed up ther paint, but it all came offf. But of course the paint faded there over a long period of time, so i decide to put the back on

Yep, that's why I used rubbing compound and polishing compound.
