Is the dealer lying???

Hey guy's, yesterday i called to schedule an appointment at Tischer Acura/Nissan in Laurel to bring in my 02 tl-p in because my steering wheel vibrates like crazy when i brake, and my brakes are much softer. I now have 35,000 miles on the car and bought it about 5 months ago used with 25,000 miles on it. I told the dealer on the phone about the rotor TSB(i've never had it done), but he said that he's never seen an acura dealership do it with over 20,000 miles on the car. He said that i'll probably have to end up paying like $295 for pads or something like that. Have you guy's had the rotors and pads done for free with over 35,000 miles on the car? Will it make a difference if i take it to another dealership?
Please help

I never heard of a dealership that "was NOT lying".... This one has a nose a mile long. Then again, he might not have "seen" another dealer do it, but if you give me his number I'll let him "hear" about another dealer doing it, and several times, too.

Tell him to call Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA - 703.968.6600. They replaced my pads and rotors at about 40K for free.

Hey, I get my oil changed at the dealer. I bring my own sythetic oil. How do I know they are putting MY oil in my car?

I have had nothing but problems at Tischer. They hastled me so much when I tried to buy the car there that I went somewhere else (and got a much better deal out of it). Tried their service once for the 30k mile maintenance, will never go back there again. They do not read the TSB's and when you point it out to them they get all arrogant and blow you off anyway. Stay away from them. Their customer service is awful and the loaner program through Enterprise is just horrendous.

Sounds like you just need to go to another dealer. It's up to the discretion of the dealer to do the rotors for free. Also, for $300, it doesn't hurt to go ask someone else.

You could try getting an oil with a wierd color like Royal Purple and see if it's the same color in the crank case when you pick it up. Although they may only use 2 quarts of the RP and the rest in regular oil.

at my 30K mile mx, the local dealer changed all 4 pads, but replaced the rotors under warranty since my steering wheel went crazy when I braked. The total for all the work for the 30K mx was $245...

Try Rosenthal Acura in Gaithersburg. They resurfaced my rotors first, and when that didn't work they replaces them. Both after 20k miles.
