Dealer Demos are Abused-Stay Away
My car will be in soon and I keep reading about the break-in periods for the car. The car I test drove had about 100 miles on it and the salesman encouraged me to floor it, shift agressively, and really feel the power of the car. That is why I will never buy a car that is not off the truck. Think about your test-drive. The salesman wanted to impress you with the car's performance. Stay away from any car with more than 15 miles on it or any dealer demo.

yup... buying a dealer demo is like buying a rental car
however i was so eager to take delivery of my TL i was like... WTF, 20 miles on the car wouldn't hurt THAT much =*( i should've waited

]I know a new and used car dealer owner -- he called demos "Demolish-strators"
The other comment was, "Do you know why we call them demos? Because they have been demolished."
I'm not kidding -- true story, from an owner of a new and used car dealer! He told me to NEVER buy a demo. The current Acuras are not considered Demos if they have something around 300 miles or less on them. They gave me a "test" ride in a car they wanted to sell me as new. When I asked about how they could do that, the sales guy just mentioned the less than xxx miles (The sales guy was wrong about a number of things so I hesitate to repeat that exact mileage figure – the cars do get pounded.)
Get a new car off the truck (My CLS had 6-miles on it, and still had the plastic sheeting on it). This allowed me to not have any swirls (in the paint), and I Zaino’d it before they could ruin it!

That's why I'm waiting for one off of the truck. I have to wait until between July 15 and August 15, but I'd rather do that and get a car with around 4 miles on it, then get one with 40 that was located from another dealer.....

I turned down the 200 mile car they drove in from the coast for me. I had no idea what it might have been through. I ended up getting mine straight off the truck, giftwrapped.
I feel sorry for whoever got the beautiful Aegean Blue TL-S/Navi they were using as a demo at the time. I know I TEST drove it. Just hope whatever deal that person got was worth it. Not me!
When I lived in Arizona, I though that a car with over 500 miles was considered used.

Yea, I was pretty ticked that my TL-S had 36 miles on it when I picked it up. But I got a TL-S with Navi for 31,800 when it first came out, so i really didnt complain

the prices people say here...are without tax and licence. sometimes even without destination charge.
I believe the price 31,800 for silver with nav doesn't include tax...if u add approx 10% tax...then it'd be 34,980.

Yea, my price did not include tax, but it did include the destination charge. He gave me that price because I bought a 2000 GSR 4-door a year earlier from the same salesperson.

My TL had 6 (was it 8?) miles on it when I took delivery. Some dealers try to sell you demo cars as new cars because they have less than certain amount of miles on them before it exceeds the limit. The limit is usually less than 100 miles?
I asked the sales person the same exact question when I was testdriving the TL (Not my car). He was telling me to floor it, slam on the brakes to show me how impressive the TL handles.... and I was really hesitante to do it cuz the car only had 20 miles on it. I asked him "Don't you break in your demo car?" and he replies... "oh yeah, we are right now." He said that as long as you don't "redline" it, it's fine. B/S.
