Is dealer BS or what?
I was told today that they only make 10000 TL-S per year so they are hard to come by. I don't buy it, his price was good though if I can get out of the office early I will call him on his in person quote and take it if he is real.

Umm, I don't believe that is true. I don't know the exact numbers, but I think it's higher then that. It may not be by much, but I think it's higher....
Even if it is true... they're not tough to come by. Unless you want a specific color/option combo, they are all over the place. Go to any dealer and you should see some on the lot....

Latest sales data for HMC is March 2002. Through March 2002, Acura sold:
-14,939 TLs (down 15% from this time last year)
-12,871 MDXs (up 12% from this time last year)
-7,294 RSXs (first year model, no previous data)
-3,395 CLs (down 33% from this time last year)
-2,349 RLs (down 9% from this time last year)
-75 NSXs (up 55% from this time last year)
-17 Integras (must be left over 2001s, down 99.6% from this time last year)
As you can see, the TL is their number one selling model, although I believe the MDX is projected to pass it this year. They sell almost 5 TLs for every one CL sold (even the RSX is doubling sales for the CL).
When the Type S model was released last year, Acura predicted that 35% of TL buyers would opt for the package, which means they would probably schedule production accordingly. I believe that figure dropped to 25% for 2003 model year, but even still if you extrapolate from the 1st quarter data, you would get:
14,939 TLs sold in 3 months = approximately 59,756 TLs sold for the year. If 25% of those cars were produced in Type S trim to meet expected demand, then you'd be looking at just about 15,000 units per year that are TL-Ss.
Now seeing as how in that same three month period, Honda sold 85,006 Accords, it makes the TLs numbers seem rare. However, I don't think there's enough of a demand for the TL-S that makes it hard to find for a dealer, and therefore you should be in no rush to find one. Heck, based on those sales figures, a CL-S is five times more rare than a TL-S, and dealers have no trouble locating those.
Hope this helps....

The last I read was 18,000 TLS this year is Acura's goal.
My dealer gave me a similar line. Except the problem in San Diego is that as soon as they get them...they're gone. The longest I've seen one sit on the lot here is about a week and a half.
When I bought mine, they had 2 TLS on Monday. By Friday's new shipment all were gone. Friday the dealer rec'd 6 TLS and sold 4 same day. I bought one of the two TLS on the lot Sat. (March 02)
Hotcakes!!

Yeah dealers are generally full of it-
Although the TLS is hard to come by at certain dealers. I was told Acura dealers are alloted so many cars per month. So, if a dealer has a large client base they tend to sell to more repeat buyers keeping their inventory low.
A particular dealer close to me was really pushing me to get into the car in early April and I wasnt ready until the end of April. I came back he had no cars- tuned out for the better though-
Boring story just thought I would throw in my 2 cents
Peace
