I just bought my TLS from the dealer..wanted it to look cool so I asked him to get the dark tinting done.Well now its too dark..I had trouble driving it back from the dealership at night..I believe that the rear view mirror already has some headlight dimming feature and I could hardly make out the cars behind me..I live in LA and its not too dark or too bright in the evenings..so that twilight zone is killing me..
Im pretty pissed off that I just spend the money on getting it tinted and now will have to spend more getting it removed...does anyone one else have this issue ,do you get used to it after a while?

You didn't specify % when you got it done? Should have done some research about window film. I think the 15% -20% is a popular choice for most of the folks here. Although there are others who prefer darker, comes down to a matter of choice. Check out Tint Center for info on window film.

I believe that the 35% is the best one, your car its gona look nice, classy, anything below 20% looks ghetto. The purpose of the tint is to make your car look attractive, you dont want to "hide" inside your car like you were doing drugs, or if you are some ugly kid that dont want anybody to see you. Cops want to see you in the car, they want to see who is driving the car and what is the person driving the car doing inside, if they dont they will most likely pull you over. Dark tint like 5% looks very nasty, looks like someone took a black paint and painted from the inside.

Where I live rims + tint = automatic pull over, so its good not to piss off cops with dark tint

I have 20% sides and back ... tough when it's a really dark street and you're backing up but you get used to it. Plus, you never have to worry about somebody with their highbeams on. You're already protected.

I would say try it for a while before you scrape it.

There is definitely an adjustment period. You'll get used to it. You know you can turn off the "dimmer" on the rear view. Well at least I could in the '03 and now in the '06 that I have owned. Not sure what year TL you have but that might help.

Good luck.

Yeah, on the bottom center of the mirror is a little button. Just push it. The green light should go out.

F The cops, i love their faces when they pull me over and i roll down the window and they see a nice little white kid in the driver seat and not some 7 foot black drug dealer they were expecting, the faces are almost priceless, and as far as dark tint looking nasty i beg to differ i think it looks clean as hell, esp. on a black car....

Pics here 5% all around, 35% on the windshield
