Dang Eclipse beat me

well first I beat him but then he turned out to be a persistent and reckless fvcker. So I let him pass me and he took off cutting off everyone left and right.

Still I did not expect an Eclipse to keep up.

I think my tranny #2 is getting worse - I am getting crappy fuel economy, it is not willing to downshift as it used to, it kicks when I cruise at 70mph and then press the gas pedal harder...

hmm, when did you get your 2nd tranny...

Sorry to hear about the Eclipse, but sounds like he was just a crazy/dumb driver..

Anyways, I am getting a 2nd tranny installed right now and pick it up today as a matter of fact and was wondering when you got your 2nd tranny installed. I am seriously considering selling my tl-s now as the prob still does not seem to be resolved. My car was a midsummer 03 and wasnt in the recall and it STILL failed...$#%#$ acura!

KCTLS, mine is a 2002 TL-S, leased in December of 2001, OEM tranny failed at 6,100 miles.

KC--what's the serial number on your VIN and build month?
Scary thing to have a failed tranny when you're not included in the recall.

Huh???
A newer, non-turbo v6 Eclipse?
I hope not. If so, sounds like your tranny is fu(k=d badly...I a$$raped some putz in and Eclipse coming back from the airport Friday night. v6 and all. He was driving like an a$$ as well...

I did, however, get rolled by a '99 or so Eclipse about 4 weeks ago but he had a big 'ol turbo whose blow off scared the shi+ outta me as he passed me like I was standing still at 70mph...Go figure. Oh, and go get a new tranny--hurry!!! Can't let these new Eclipse rumors spread!

LoL! Do you live in S. California? Theres this blue paseo w/ turbo that beat me as well, hes all kitted up on rims lol

The worst one was this 86 Mazda 323 with 5 people in it. I got smoked by like 3 car lengths!!!:wow: Then I noticed his intercooler:wow:

no, South Florida. I took the Paseo off the line, no problem. But then he caught up later and beat me at high speed. I could have kept up but we were driving through an area where I had gotten a ticket a few days before... so I backed off.

My worst was a Civic...It was painted that flat black--almost like primer, but it was done evenly...He had stock, black steel wheels on the back and these gunmetal wheels on the front with bigger tires...There were three people in his car.
He pulled up and had the window down and asked if he could run me to show his new friend he was quicker. I was like, h=ll yeah. It was about 45 degrees and my car was screamin' that day. Anyway, the light turned green and all I heard was tire squeal and smoke poured off this guys tires as he sat still and I left him standing...By about 50 he had caught me, by 70 he was two cars ahead and I heard the whoosh...By 100 I could not see but a spec of him...
I saw him again at a grocery store...He has stripped a lot of the car, has an Integra engine and claims he has like 390hp at the wheels but virtue of a huge turbo...
He said he only had like $13k in the car...

I guess that huge turbo is so heavy that it takes him a while to get it up to speed.

$13K in improvements, gutted interior, and still just a Civic. LOL! What a waste of $13 grand...:yack:

I thought it was great...
Goof, not a heavy turbo, a 20y/o who built himself a fast a$$ ride and either can't drive, or was showing off by liquidating his tires in tribute to the asphalt gods...If he wouldn't have dropped at a ridiculously high range of rpm's he'd of eaten me alive...H=ll, I had him by one or two lengths but within 6 or 7 seconds from a start he came BLOWING by me...
And when I say $13k, that includes his car!
In a couple of years, I might do the same thing with a used s2000 or something like that...Why not? It'd be kinda cool. I know you are in love with your 'stang, Hokie, and no offense, but I'd never own another American car. No 'stangs, 'vettes, nothing, no thanks...Just a personal preference even if I could never be that fast with a 4 banger...

That's understandable. There are very few domestics that excite me as well. I'm a long time Stang man, but the rest of the Ford, GM, and Chryslers are plain jane and not high on my list of cars to own. Having driven (or owned) many different domestics, I can say that the Acura is definitely top notch and will be staying in my garage for many years to come.

But to admire a Civic is something I cannot do. I see those things everywhere and there's nothing collectible or sexy about them in the least. There are no subcompacts in my future...

I understand that...I don't want a Civic by any means. I wouldn't mind a WRX or Evo, but I'd really like an s2000 to kinda fix up as a second car...
