Damnit :(

This isn't the happiest story in the world, but I just feel like venting today.

Yesterday, I was driving along at night after getting some dinner with friends. Doing about 50 down the street and had to get over in the left lane before the light since I was turning right past the intersection. Accelerated so I could move over in front of two other cars and out from being stuck behind a van in the right lane. As soon as I crossed over, there was something in the road waiting for me. I couldn't tell what it was, but it was big, and not enough room to slow down or jump back over to the right. Edge of the tire clipped it and managed to toss it up so it hit my driverside door.

Now there is a deep 8 inch diagnonal scratch.

Any good suggestions for this one?

That just sucks. I guess its just the hazards of driving at night. If your door is not dented at all, you can try polishing out the scratch, If its the least bit dented, you'll have to take it to a body shop for repair. It's hard to tell how bad it is from your description, but 8 inches doesn't sound too good. At least it didn't flatten your tire or mess up your alignment, so it could have been worse. Good luck getting it fixed, I hope it doesn't cost too much.

You might try some of that dupli-color that looks like a pen. They make a kit that comes with some wet sand paper. It works pretty good on small rock chips. But an 8 inch scratch might be a lot to cover. I saw those 2 old dudes on "2 Guys Garage" use it and I bought some based on that show. It works.
