Damn Pothole!!!!!
Ok, today F*CK!!!!, sorry im still pretty pissed. I was driving down wilshire...(for any of you in LA...avoid the right lane heading west on wilshire and western!!!! right before gramercy). anyways i was heading down this pretty packed street... i was going about 50mph, yeah i was going a little fast. anyways, as im headed down the street there is this huge ass SUV in front of me, so i didn't see it coming. the pothole of all potholes. This wasn't a pothole, this was a freaking swimming pool someone just dug up in the middle of the lane. SO, im already going about 15 over the speed limit, huge ass SUV in front of me... and a damn minivan to the left of me. i couldn't brake, cause when i saw it, i was maybe 10 ft from it. Then i heard that great sound that any pothole hater loves to hear.. BOOM!!!! my tire popped instantly. thank God no damage to my rim. Ok, now since my car is new, and well, i was in a freakin suit, i had no desires to go out there and change a tire... so i called roadside assistance.. damn they take a long ass time. while i waited i got a disposable camera took some pics... the acura dealer said to take pics and send it in, supposedly i will get reimbursed..
MY EXPERIENCE WITH A POTHOLE SUMMARY:
roadside assistance... 1hr later = Free
replacement of tire = $200
disposable camera = $10
development of photos = $3.50
embarassment of hitting the pothole = PRICELESS!!
once i get these pics scanned i will show you the pothole. it was about 3 feet wide.... about 9 inches deep.

It takes some effort and persistence but I was reimbursed in Louisiana when recieving damage from a pothole. No one thought I would get reimbursed for my damages but I did. Who did Acura suggest would be reimbursing you?

I don't know how it is in Cali but in NY filing a claim is virtually useless. By the time you get paid out (if you get paid for that matter) you will have forgotten about the whole thing. I had the same thing happen to me on the way to the Deegan Expressway coming off of the George Washington Bridge...needless to say 6 cars were stopped on the side of the parkway with blown tires & bent rims. I opted to pay out off my pocket to avoid the headache. Good luck if you decide to file a claim.

Even if it takes a long time & he forgets.....it will be like free money & he can put it towards the car then![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It really depends on whether you want to mess with it or not....in any state...getting them to pay is very hard but not impossible.

I'm from NY/NJ and we know potholes. If you hit the pothole hard enough to pop the tire you should get your suspension checked out to make sure you didn't do any other damage. Also, you're definitely going to need an alignment. It's cheaper to do it now than wait for the CV boot to go or to screw up the tread wear of your tires.
