Post Dammm...Close call!

First, I must say this car never ceases to amaze me. I was running over to my tax man's house tonight in the TL when this moron in Buick Century slams his brakes on in the middle of the road to make a U-Turn. Freaked me out, I slammed on the brakes and antilock stopped the car so quick, I had to push my eyeballs back in thier sockets. Dork makes the illegal U-turn in the median when in my rear view mirror I see a Big four wheel drive barreling down on me. I hear the horrid screech of off road tires locking up on me. I slammed the accelerator to the floor, TCS started flashing and I hauled a$$ out of there nearly missed being hit. The vehicle behind him was not so lucky, a newer VW went under the rear bumper and smashed the hell out of the car. I was so frazzeled by the incident, I forgot my police background and failed to get the tag of the driver in the buick. Lucky for him, It would have been a phantom hit & run and he would have been charged even though there was no contact made with him. In retrospect, I'm pissed as hell for not remembering to get his tag. Oh well the pressure of my ride being crushed was weighing heavily on my mind. Do you all forgive me? By the way, I just put the CL-S wheels with the RE730's on it this weekend, I'm not sure if it would have got out of there in time without those sticki 17's.

I know for sure with my balding stock tires I'd wouldn't have been able to stop in time nor would I be able to get out of there quick enough either.

Also, I forgive you for not gettin the tag. I hope the VW driver was ok too.

Yeah, she was o.k., airbag deployed, but she said she never hit it. Had a nice redmark on her shoulder from the seatbelt, glad to see so many people wearing them these days, I can't tell you many accidents I worked when a fatality could have been avoided by wearing it. I stayed there with her till a beat car showed up and her Mom. I kept her laughing and her Mother appreciated it. Sometimes it's good to be the Police.

damn, same thing happened to me today... I was following this Buick (now you can see what's up with the Buick buyer...) with an old couple in it, they came up to an intersection, just slammed their brake so hard, stopped in the middle of the road, and THEN signal and made a left turn... I had to slam the brake also... that was very close...
that's where my "A LOTTA CIY DRIVING" comes from...

No kidding! I had a run in with a big ass Buick driven by an elderly gentleman...no sense holding back...an old freaking geezer. I was going down a three lanes road and I was on the left, which ends. He was in the far right, which also ends. I put my signals on and dude in a pickup truck in the middle lane was courteous enough to let me in. After making a shoulder check I proceeded to move in to the center lane. I was half way in and the old geezer in the far right lane starts moving into my lane. I thought WTF the guy didn't even bother shoulder checking or signal. I honked to let him know I was there and the a$$ just keep plowing into my lane. I had to jam on the brakes and swerve back out to the left lane to avoid getting hit.

The weather was perfect and the road was dry. Go figure.

These examples just go to show that you need to be careful when you see old geezermobiles. Old people can sometimes get careless, react more slowly, have poorer eyesight, or be more prone to falling asleep at the wheel. I'm almost tempted to suggest a maximum driving age, as there is already a minimum driving age. Better yet, there should be extra strict mandatory biannual driving tests for seniors. On a similar note, I petition that all Corolla drivers get their licenses revoked too for driving such ugly and accident-prone cars.

It doesn't matter old or young, this is the problem with the whole country, the way people learn how to drive and the way the driving test is conducted.
I was in Germany this weekend and in order for them to get a drivers license they have to pay 3000DM($1500) to get the driving course and instructor to teach them for over a year period and only after that they are allowed to take the driving test, 45 minute test not a 5-10 minute like here!!!
The problem is in the way you learn how to drive not the age...

Just my 2 cents...

Most definetly...Thanks for talking me into them. Not only are they very functional, but they look great on the car. I love the rim protection feature of the tire, already saved a wheel. I was pulling into a spot and a piece of the curb was broken off, I jumped it and just knew it was scratched, Got out and it wasn't.
