Damaged Oil Filter
Well i now have a reason to continue changing my own oil. the last time i had it changed i was in a rush to get out of town for a 4 day weekend, any way i brought the car to a oil change place i have used on occasion before. well i changed my oil this morning and i tried to remove the oil filter by hand NO SUCH LUCK the filtre was on too tight,so i moved up to the oil filter socket and wrench i put it on and was twisting so hard the oil filter just twisted and crumpled like when you start to crush a soda can. now im pissed cause the damn filter still isnt coming off, last attempt i grab a pipe wrench (only thing left to use) now whats supposed to be a ten min job turned into a 30 min ordeal, finnaly i got it off... now im waiting till the oil change place to open so i can go confront the lil Bast@#d who did this...
so if any one is still trying to figure out if they should change there own oil? my sugestion is YES

It's not uncommon for a hand tightened oil filter to for whatever reason tighten up over time. For the really tough ones, I just jam a long screwdriver through it sideways and twist. It's crude and messy, but it works well.

i chang my own oil every month (thats just how much i drive, around 4000 miles a month +or- a few) and ive beendoing it along time now and never have i had a oil filter get that damn tight, i swear some times those little a-holes do stuff like that just to get thems selves all excited or something. by the way i went in and complained (to put it nicely) and the manager gave me 2 free oilchanges and carwashes
