D5 indicator question

When I started the car earlier I noticed that the green D5 light was lit along with the red park light. The D5 light went off a second or so after the car fired. I have not noticed this before but honestly I do not recall ever paying attention. This may be normal but it seems that if the car is in park there would be no reason for the D5 light to illuminate. This is my third transmission which was replaced about 3,000 miles ago in June of this year and it already seems like it is shifting rough. The car has 46,000 miles on it and is an 02 Type S so I am covered if anything does happen. Just wandering if this was a sign? I searched through numerous threads but the only thing I can find is about the D5 indicator flashing.

Thanks

if you ever suspect something isnt correct, your first thing to do should be to bring it to the dealer. As for the lights?? i dont remember, its been along time now since ive started the TL with a automatic

I will check mine for you and report back

Agree with Kris- when in doubt- let them check it out

I called last week and they had a tech go for a ride with me
to see if it needed to be in the shop- its shifts ok but I think there is hesitation
engaging from N to D5 after reversing out of driveway
Does it warm too, but not so much
Tech said its good to go- but come back if it does anything different

I've noticed this lately also. I usually shift to neutral, depress the parking brake, then shift to park. Yet when I start the car the D5 lights up as if it were in that gear. I'm on the original tranny, not sure if its a sign or not, but I don't think the car was like that originally.

Thanks for the comments.

I do plan to take it to the dealer when I get back home to Knoxville. I am on business traveling and I have some clients that might end up in the car and I would hate for anything to happen so I figured that I would post on here to see if this was normal or if it might be something to worry about.

OK - I checked mine each time I started the car today, the D5 green light does indeed come on at startup along with the red P for a few seconds- best guess is a systems self test much like the ABS runs a few test as you start to drive

Never even noticed it before- wow

Rough shifting- drop in to whatever dealer is near and ask for the head tech to take a quick ride with you. The warranty is good anywhere- just tell them your situation
