Question D2R to D2S? Is it possible?

I ordered bulbs last week from suvli*hts.com and called today to verify my order and the guy there told me that they were out of D2R bulbs and that he could send me the D2S bulbs and that they would fit exactly the same with some slight modification. he said the D2R and very hard to get right now and it would be a while until they came in. So what should i do ?

i have d2s... one of the notches on the bulb... i filed it to make it square. the only difference in light output is that the d2s gives off a little more glare... you'll see it on a wall once u lgiht them up... the glare is not bad enough to blind other drivers either.

If you need to order then from this guy in Taiwan. How much did you pay at suvlights? It is a slight modification but I wouldn't want to mess with it. if they are willing to do it for you and then ship it to you, I don't see why not.

It won't get you more lumes if you put in D2S. It's made for projector headlights, stick with D2R for our reflective type HIDs.

I have the D2S and the modification is very easy to do, just need to file down the base in one of the spots like another user said. And HZM is right about the lumens not increasing with bulbs. Honestly if you have a choice just buy it form another person and get the right D2R ones. I did it cause I was under the false notion that D2S gave off more light since it doesnt have that metal piece surrounding the glass... but I was wrong.

Basically no reason to get the wrong bulb and modify.. no benefit to you at all. Lot of members have bought it from the Taiwan guy that Bxscig is referring to.

i got my d2s from ebay and i have had them over a month. i paid less than $100 and i couldnt be more happy with them. they look the same as the phillips (light-output wise). so the choice is yours.

Take a dremel tool to the D2S bulb and it'll fit into a D2R socket...
