Custom Painted Engine Cover + Calipers
Has anyone had their engine cover custom painted? If so, what kind of paint. Also, can the OEM calipers be painted and what kind of paint should be used for it?

No that's alright tpatel. That's what I meant also. I'm looking to do the above work myself that's why I asked what kind of paint was used. I'm hoping to see some pics in this thread for some inspiration!!!

What your problem is?
do a search for the calipers here, lots of folks have done it, I am going to do it, as soon as it stops raining here.... the hard part is just jacking the car, removing the wheels and covering the tires so that no overspray occurs.... other than that it should be pretty easy... there is a specific paint that is to be used...
The engine cover, I do not know about...

my calipers are painted, so are my engine and battery covers. the paint is holding up great and it's really not hard to do. just make sure you use high temp paint.. (even tho some said it's not required..)

^^ thats the cover on the '99TL-P...its what i got. Buy some $5 high temp spray paint (200*F is enough) and a white primer to put on before the spray...OR use some regular BBQ grill paint.

better to play it safe. Plus the high temp paints have this ceramic compound that makes the metalic paints sparkle. On the calipers...DO GET HIGH TEMP...if you break a lot those calipers get over 200*F, normal paint would boil at this temps...

I picked my Caliper Painting Kit up at Eastwood tools, and painted them over six months ago - they still look as good as the day I painted them. The kit comes with everything you need, with the exception of a steel brush that you may need if your brake dust is really heavy (I used an old toothbrush).
Here is the link (several colors to choose from):
Here is a description from the site:
High Temperature Brake Caliper Coating - Designed for street and performance applications. Resistant to 900 degrees F and can be applied without removing or disassembling the caliper. These urethane coatings feature a 90+% gloss finish, does not fade with heat or UV exposure. Coating self-levels, prevents corrosion and attack from chemicals. Includes instruc., 2 component color - activation system, mixing jar, stir stick, degreaser and application brush. Coats @ 4 sq. ft. or 4 calipers. Made in the USA.
Only thing to note, and I am sure this goes with ALL types of caliper paint jobs - you will have to spend extra attention to keep them clean. It is definitely a pain to clean the calipers with the rims (mine are stock TLS) on the car - seems no matter how I park a portion of the rim is always in front of the caliper on one of the 4 wheels........
Hope this helps.

as asked by brizzle, here are the instructions to paint ur engine/battery cover and calipers:
1. sand down every part you wanna paint, make sure they are free of dust/rust.
2. you can apply a coat of primer but it is not necessery.
3. apply like 3 light coats of paint and let each coat dry before applying the next one.
4. if you want a glossy look for the engine/battery covers, you can add one or more coats of clear.
5. for the brakes, i suggest you put a layer of clear coat cuz it will make cleaning much easier and the paint will last longer.
i think you should use high temp paint at least for the calipers for the reason that etxxz stated.
