custom exhaust

Hi,

I am finally getting my custom exhaust done. My question is should I trust Midas with this job. I know the job is fairly easy but I am anal about my car, as most everyone else on here. I just dont want to get the car back with one tip out three inches further than the other or the pipes scarping the floor or any other problem. Let me know what you guys think. I live in NJ by the way, if someone knows of a good shop let me know. Thanks.

dont go to the Midas on Route 17, Paramus.. i got mine done there and everything is rattling right now. i had them re-weld it too since they give a 90 day warranty, but the damn pipes still rattle. also if youre gonna get custom B-Pipe done, they only do crush bends, which doesnt help air flow at all. look for a place that does mandrel bends and uses electric welders instaed of gas. Good Luck.

if you find one give me a heads up, im looking for one as well. i'll also get you info on it if i do find a place before you. i really need to get my exhaust piping (bends and welds) all redone.

actually no one welds with only gas , they only cut with gas. and the welders they do use are typically MIG welders that use gas and electricity. the really really good shops would TIG weld teh joints

hmm.. i have a question, would welding a pipe together cause vibrations or any type of rattling at all??

im starting to get worried if the vibratoins are from the welds or my mufflers.

talk to the manager.
tell him/her, exactly what u want.
they warranty their work..
but just get the price up front..
be specific.
put the car on the lift.
and tell him.
some people trim the rear valance.
the Y intersection needs to be bent upwads or it can be seen from behind like hanging pipes..
the hangers...
the resonators..
it's endless.....

i don't know how important the whole "mandrel bend" thing is..
especially if u get larger piping...
and there are few bends...

welds wont cause the rattles. it has to be touching something, or something is binding, or loose

This is the kind of stufff I am scared of. I rather pay a little more money and not have to worry about the possible problems. Aaron, I will let you know if I come across a good shop.

im in fort lee area (northern part, right by the bridge and last acura meet)

but i do work in Jersey City and Newark (near NJIT and Rutgers Campus')

i'll give you guys a heads up on the mechanics i check out.

and for the mandrel bend questions, it helps because it gets it more free flowing, it has smooth bends instead of crush bends which totally ruins the whole point of getting larger diameter piping.
