Cup holder mod pictures

I've seen quite a few people talking about doing a simple mod where you take out the cup holders of your 99-01 TL and put in the cupholder from the 02-03 TL, I found the part for $5.50:

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...=77237-S0K-A02

But before I did it, I was wondering if anyone could upload a pic of their cupholder from the 02-03 model. If anyone has done this mod, could you put a DIY up, too? Thanks, it sounds like a cool "first mod" for my TL, but I just wanted to know what it would be like before I actually did it.

All you need to do is to clip the two little tabs that are sticking out. Then it slides in perfectly.

What is so bad about the cupholder you've got now? I really don't know what the difference is.

That's what I was wondering, actually. From what people are saying, its a big improvement to have the 02-03 cupholders, but I just want to see what the difference is before I get into it.

difference is that it holds beverages better. in the oem 99-01 cup holder you have to put that little add on thing inside in order to prevent stuff from spilling.... its a g00d mod.

if you don't have anything to add, leave it.

I just want to see what it looks like, i clip coupons for less than "5 bux" and I could buy 20 candy bars for that much, so either post a pic, or stuff it.

I'm afraid it's going to be way more than 5 bucks.

Send an E-mail to Tim at hondacura world@aol.com. He has awesome prices on OEM parts.

yeah, with shipping its a little over $10 for the part, but regardless of price, i just want to see a picture or at least get a description of WHY it's so much better, just hearing that it is better isn't enough.

My '02 has one little holder, and one big one. Little one good for holding cans more tightly, while big one holds 20 oz. bottles and the like. I don't know what the old holder(s) looks like.

Did you know that when you reply to a thread that you're subscribed to, you get an e-mail notification letting you know? Like "Incubus has replied to the thread..."

EDIT: Nevermind, it was a delayed e-mail from someone else's reply.

The older one has two spaces that are pretty shallow, one has this little removable insert to hold a can-sized drink, but it always gets stuck on the bottom of the drink so you have to remember to take it off before you throw your drink away. I bet the junkyard is littered with discarded TL cupholder insert thingies. THanks for the description. If you feel like snapping a pic and e-mailing it to me, i'd really appreciate it

just go to your local dealer and order one... i got mine for $8 CAD... no need to do it online and then pay for shipping.. it's such a simple part... is just the round, plastic inserts where your cups sit - not the whole enclosure w/ doors...

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. I'm going to the stealer in a couple of weeks to have my tranny looked at for the recall (it's not broken yet) so i'll have them order one of those. it looks much more awesome.

True, except Tim sells for way less than dealership prices, and shipping is cheap, too. It's worth a shot to see how much it would be, no? I get all my OEM stuff from him.

my 2001 has those cupholders. I believe they were remodeled in 2001 and are the same in the 2002 and above.

Before you go to the stealer, go to 7-11 and grab a big gulp. Find an 02-03 on the lot and enjoy.

if you do end up ordering one from the dealing instead of via online - you might want to call a few days before your appointment to order one so it will be there when you're there... this'll save you another trip to the dealer in case they don't have one in stock the day you're there...

or the ones on the bottom of the back, where the back drink would sit??

When I made this mod, I acutally had to cut all the tabs because the holder wouldn't seat right with just one set removed. Having whacked them all back, it fits like a glove.

i don't see any slots in the front, for those 2 pieces to fit into.....anyone else with a 99 that has those slots???!?

anyway, when there's a drink in the rear position, the holder rocks a little
i can push down on the rear position and it'll completely push up the front...is there a way to make it fit better??

Go out to Home Depot or Lowes, and pick up those little rubber, non skid, feet that you see on the bottom of table lamps. They come on sheets and have adhesive backs, so you peel-and-stick them to whatever you want. Try placing them around the front of the holder, between the holder and the front wall of the compartment. The feet should stop the tray from wanting to come out when pressure is applied.
