cracking leather seat

hey guys !

Any ways i have noticed that on the edge of my drivers seat my seat already has a crack.(like its already ripped open but its about inch long so its not a big deal but what can i do to prevent it from getting worse. i already do armor all leather care. but i do it once a month or so. what else can i do?

by the way is it possible/worth to stitch it up(for how big the rip/crack is)

What iron patches? I would say to grab some thread, and double it up and stitch it up with black thread...won't be TOO obvious and will hold it together.

an auto upholstery shop can do a nice repair, might need a piece replaced

stop using armor all and get a real leather conditioner that doesnt dry out and even worse with use of seat heat
suggest `saddle soap` type leather conditioner

Lexol is good too. It's what I've used on my past two cars with great results.

saddle soap is where its AT! My left bolster on the driver's side is completly cracked, messed up, w/e, and i took it to an auto upholstery shop and the guy REFUSED to touch it because of the side airbag. He claimed that they use special stitching that will tear immediately when the bag blows and that he could not and would not mess with it because of this. He said that it was unfixable and that I could leave it be or find a new seat. Any ideas? Would love a pair of leather sparco seats but just a couple bux outta my price range

you can remove the seat from the car for work, or ask another shop

I dont know a thread strong enough to stop an airbag--you ever see them inflate on tv!

It cracked on my side bolster on my driver side.

I used Vaseline to soften the leather, after 10 years it was rough!

Then I got those leather patches that people used to use for jackets and stuff, cut out the approximate size I needed, stitched the ends and then ironed it. and then cut away the excess. and yeah it's noticeable if you look directly at it but unless you know its there you barely notice

I also have black leather so it was easy to color match

leather is nice n all but a bitch to maintain. and my leather isn't all that great looking after 10 yrs. for a while i was on a saddle soap binge tryna get them all shiny n clean. they still don't look all that. I mean theyre clean.. but i would ditch em if i could afford different ones.

^ahh, yeah man i spend top dollar (my time lol) making sure my leather is right.

apart from one rip in the side bolster, no scratches. nothing. my only problem is people are not as kind to the car as i am
