cracking front wheel fender liners
Hi,
I got mine TLS back in June, 01. Now I am about to bring my car back to the dealer for the third time to replace the cracked fender liners for the wheels. At first I was guessing the screw it on too tight...but now for the third time! Something is not right. I called the dealer asking about it, they did told me that I am not the only owner had to replace it, but I am the first person bring my car back for the third time. I like to know any other 2002 TLS owner out there have the same problem.
Every time I need them replace, I have to wait one or two week for the part to be available. Seems like it's cracking faster then the new part will get here.
Dealer told me 2002 part are hard to get. I guess they don't expect new cars need repairs...
Also...what can I ask Acura do about my car if this keep on happening. Replace my car with a new one? hehee

I have had both left and right replaced due to cracking. I talked with the mechanic who installed them and he said he would reinstall the new ones with less torque (actually tighten by hand). Haven't had any problems since they have been replaced.
Knock on wood.

What are they suppose to do anyways (functionaly speaking) ?

BTW, mine are cracked a little too. Maybe time for a trip to the dealer.

Wow, I can't believe I'm not the only one w/this problem!!!! I was going crazy over this. I thought the service guys were just tightening it too much. I was then thinking that it might have something to do lowering my car. I wonder why this is happening. This is going to be my 3rd one. I'm glad you posted this up.

Hey Ben, mine broke within a week I had the car too. I think Honda needs to use a "softer" pliable plastic ( I'm not talking Silly Putty soft) but just a tad bit softer. Imagine how many more will break in the upcoming winter when that brittle plastic gets even more brittle in the cold temp's. As for me, I'll get it changed one of these day's. I sure ain't in no rush.

Hi,
As I posted the cracking fender liners I also have chance to read about the sunroof. When exactly does it make the noise that is bad? I like to know more about it, maybe I can get that fixed with the fender liners.

Well, when the sunroof visor is open, you can hear the rubber squeaking when it moves/rubs on the metal around it. The dealers fix it by adding teflon tape on the metal and it eliminates the squeaking noise.

After calling Acura complain dept. @ 1800-382-2238 Last thursday, they told me that they will call me back after two business days... Now it's been a week, no calls. So I called today again. Had to tell them my story again, and they tell me their own story again. Now I have to wait for them to get back to me again. blah blah blah...
Now it's been three weeks, my dealer still don't have the fender liner to do the replacement.
Where are the 2002 parts?
I don't feel any service from Acura at all.

I'm about to change mine on my 99TL for like the 3rd time. When it cracks bad enough, it will start scraping on your tires. One time I was on the freeway and i was dragging it and I just heard the whole thing yank out and fly under my car. I didn't know other ppl had this problem, I just thought it was the fact that my car is lowered.
