Cracked Right Side Mirror

Quick question, the other day I was driving around in the rain and I think I hit the button for the heated mirrors when I was adjusting them. Anyway, on the highway, no one around the right side mirror cracks, car is 3 weeks old, 800 miles and it now has a hair line crack on the passenger side mirror. Anyone think it'll be covered under the warentee?? Thanks in advance.

On a side note, www.autoshowny.com has a pic of the new TL. Kinda glad I just bought my 03

Hey dude, this happened to me with about 7k miles on my car. The passenger side mirror just cracked horizontally. It had to do with the heated mirrors. I brought the car in for 7500 mile service and told them about the mirror. It doesn't happen that often, but it was fixed under warranty. You shouldn't have any problems.

Did you leave it on for too long?

When I went through the owner's manual, there was no warning about the length of time you can leave it on for. They didn't specify, and it cracked due to the heat, therefore they are liable.

Thanks for the input. I was afraid I'd have to bite the bullet and have to pay for it. Just pisses me off that it happened after only 800 miles.

This happened to me on my old Dodge Stratus. I turned on the mirror heater on a cold day and the mirror cracked up the middle. The dealer gave me a hard time about it but eventually replaced it under warranty.

That and about a zillion other parts that failed in the first (and only) year I had the Stratus. What a crappy car that was.
