Cosmo Intake Installation - DIY?

Complete newbie when it comes to diy mods.

I see the cosmo cold air intake for under $50 on eBay. However, it does not come with instructions, and recommends "professional installation."

Just looking at the thing, it looks to be relatively simple to do: disconnect the stock tubing & vacuum connections, remove tubing, maybe even the top of the existing air box/air box completely. Does not appear to need the front end removal (this is a short intake) that a "true cold air intake" needs.

My question is - am I on the right track, and is it really this simple, or am I making it simpler than it is?

It not that difficult, but in order to take out your factory Intake, or the airbox u need to take off your front bumper. Taking off the bumper isnt that difficult about 4 screw and a bunch of clips.

Anyone had experience with these cheap ebay things? I know some people here were advocating making your own intake, seems like this would at least be as good?

No, it would not be as good...I wouldn't waste my time or my dime for the intake you are talking about.
Something cheap is never good. It won't work the same, won't have the same fittaments, etc...Even getting OBX headers have fittament issues and coating issues though the proven performance for them is there. I've seen nothing proven from the CAI in question. I wouldn't even buy Ractive products...If you are looking to save some money, buy a used AEM or Injen...
Seriously--you have a nice, expensive car and treat it that way. Something to good to be true is just that 99.9% of the time..

I have pretty good experience with Cosmo short air ram. I had to buy additional air hose to re-route but other wise it is a fairly clean install. I removed the air box but not that 'thingy' behind the front bumper because I was too lazy.

Check my sig...
