Converting TLS Fog light to HID 6000K!!!
#41
When I look at the foglights there is a black ring around the halogen bulb and the headlights have a reflector so the xenon reflects back towards the reflector. When you remove the old halogen bulb and install the new xenon bulb instead do you try to modify the fogs buy removing the black ring? I think the premise is a little different when you compare the both. I think when you see the xenon light what you are seeing is reflected light. When you see the halogen light you are seeing both the bulb light and reflected light.
What did you do?
Also, did you hook up relays or just plugged into the old outputs for you halogen bulbs?
Does it seem that oncoming traffic is blinded?

Previous pictures from this topic has a good picture where it shows that has nice cut line light output. in other word it will not blind oncoming traffic. there's NO GLARE from the fog light!

Anyway, you WILL NOT regret on this HID conversion. I bought philips 6000K called "ultinon" conversion for 9006 bulbs.

I was wondering from your pics if you took the red and black wire leads from the ballest and connected then directly to the stock wires that powered the 9006 bulbs that used to be in your TLS. How dod you wire that part?

I have a question for all of you. Please do answer...
The cost for HID kits (500-600US), how much profit are the sellers making?
In Canada, I can get Philips HID 6000k from 3 different shops for 500cdn = 330US.
I rather shocked, though that the HID kits (2 ballasts, 2 HID bulbs) costs so much. Anyone agree? I just can't justify having the HID prices fall another 50% while I or someone else buys a set in the US or Canada.

yeap, it works just like that! I was afraid it might not work but I took a chance. whew... when that thing light up, I was happy! anyway, yeah my ballast is made by Hella and I didn't get that set from Autolamps. By the time I purchase the set they were selling Philips 6000K set for $800!!! So I order the set from HID4less for $600 and that was 2 month ago. And now the price has been dropped to.... $575. dang it! oh well.... I'm still happy though... when the both main beam and the fog lights on... IT IS BRIGHT! (e.g. reflection from front car bumper)
Anyway, the both Hella and philips ballast are made from Germany. i think both of them are pretty good. It doesn't matter what kind of ballast you get. the only matter is the light bulb. get the philips made only!

I dont think you can use the regular bulbs form your low beams beacuse of the base of the bulb. These kits have the Phillips bulbs mounted on new bases that coincide with 9006 or H1 in my case.

Okay...I just bought a new 2002 TLS w/Navi yesterday and I'm geeked about adding some better fog lights. (Actually, there's a lot of things I want to do) I'm interested in the 6000k, but is that too much? Should I look at Asiankidd's 4500k that he's selling to better match my factory lowbeams? Need some help with this.
I'm new to the ACURA TL-S world, and this is my first post. So give me a break.
