controlling imrc actuation using vtec solenoid signal

has anyone attempted this?

i was looking at the pinouts that adamlee posted and it seems like the vtec solenoid outputs the right voltage for the imrc to open, and when the voltage drops vtec disengages and would essentially close the imrc.

this may be a cheaper and easier way for us tl-p ecu users to control the type-s imrc.

37850-PGE-A01 It's gonna run you about $75 which is pretty close to the price of an rpm switch.

I'm just wondering if it can work with a TLP ECU or is it dependent on a signal coming from the ECU?

We already have one in our cars. What I'm saying is that maybe we can splice into the wire that send the signal to the solenoid. I know it has 0 voltage until the ecu decides to send 12 volts to kick vtec in.

the voltage required is right, but youre going to be increasing the current flow which could potentially damage the ecu as the voltage comes directly from it and not a relay.

I would either use a very low current relay to wire in if you go your way, or just buy a window switch to monitor rpm signal like nsx next did. The window switch is safer and doesnt have the potential to cause problems with vtec if the ecu cant deliver the current / deliver too much damaging the ecu.

y would u want the imrc opening and closing at 4700rpm? doesnt the imrc open at around 3k rpm? ull be losing power, unless ur imrc isnt work right now

im using the tl-p ecu so my imrc isnt working. i would have to get a tl-s ecu and engine harness
read: not worth it

so im trying to find another solution.

adam: good point, i forgot abotu resistance on the line. but the relay idea is a good one. send me a text when you get a chance. i need a part from you
