Control Arm Bushings.
Control Arm Bushings.
Well with 440k on mine i know they are getting sloppy and worn. The rear lowers are the cause of my slight clunking. Unless someone already knows the size of them
in the upcoming weeks ill be pressing them out and seeing the DIA of them and seeing if there are any compatible Energy Suspension Polyurethane bushings available. They should really tighten the car up if there are. My other option/idea would be to get some 100a poly and make my own??
Anyone happen to have the dimensions or know of where i can get front upper and lower poly bushings and rear 5 link bushings ??

dang, i just got rid of my broken front uppper control arm. the bushing had popped out of its seat, made a nasty clunk on the whole way home a few months ago.
it failed because the bushing seized up and wiggled it way out of the press fit, shortly before it popped out it felt like i had an aftermarket front sway bar it was so stiff. all 3 out of 4 bushing on my front upper control arms were basically seized, and the one was totally seized. The upper arms were dea replacements, not oem. swapped them out for ingalls adjustable upper arms, no problems since.
i think if your going for stiffer bushings, for the front upper control arm, after they are press fit in i would tack weld around the edges of the bushings to hold it in place onto the upper control arm, so it cant pop out.

here is the thread i made a while back, https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/weird-upper-control-arm-failure-807890/.
i think i got rid of the bushings, and kept the arms as scrap metal for welding practice.
for front upper control arms, do you want the diameter of the hole the bushing is pressed into?

I was asking about this same thing-replacement polyurethane control arm bushings.
Energy Suspension only makes Universal control arm bushings, they do not have specific ones for our cars. There are at least 4 exact measurements of parts you will have to make to figure out if they have any that will work. I even emailed Energy Suspension asking them if they knew what would fit an 02 TLS. I received no reply. EnergySuspensionParts.com basically said they don't make them for our cars.
I just ordered and installed Energy Suspension polyurethane sway bar bushings (universals only, 27mm front & 19mm rear) They don't fit real well and were a pain in the ass to get them on, even though it looks very simple. The brackets are not a real good fit and the bushings themselves are bigger and want to be where the sway bar curves and it throws off the alignment of the brackets, which barely fit.
Good news is that the front & rear ES polyurethane sway bar bushings and Moog sway bar end-links REALLY firmed up my ride.
If you figure out anything on the control arm bushings-please post. I also looked for other brands of polyurethane control arm bushings with no luck for my car.
