Considering Type-S...
Hi guys. This is my first post. I've been lurking since March or so but I have a question related to these tranny failures....
When I saw the CL-S get the 6-speed, I immediately started making plans to get a TL-S as soon as it gets one
1) Any word if the TL will follow the CL with this?
2) Has anyone talked with any CL owners with the 6-speed? How is it? Faster? Better MPG?
3) BIG question: Too new to tell if the 6-speed is having problems yet?
Tks

1) Everything seems to be pointing towards the TL NOT getting a manual transmission right away. The odds are that if they do come out with one, it will not be until the redesign which is slated as a 2004 model, but Acura has not made any official announcements about the redesign or the manual.
2) The 6-speed CL owners love the car. It is a little quicker because there's less power loss in the tranny, as well as better ratios. Gas mileage is still up in the air b/c almost all of them are still in the break-in period.
3) Way to early to tell if the 6-speed is having problems. So far we've had one 2003 TL with a problems, but there have been zero problems with the 2003 CL as of now.
You should hop to the CL board to do some browsing. You can read all of the 6-speed posts on there. Should make for some good reading!!

still a Masshole
Great questions
VeeDubDude,
I agree with JB. Too early to tell about the 6MT CLSs, although most people seem to love theirs. Ask on the CL forum and you should get some good feedback.
As for the TLSs, I have a 2003 ABP and I love it. I don't know how to drive stick yet (never needed to know and no one to teach me) so the choice was easy. I wanted a sedan with a little bit of everything. I also see the sportshift as training wheels for learning how to drive stick. At least I can train myself to remember to shift and get comfortable with it without having to worry about the clutch or stalling.
Good luck
This is my 100th post!
