Confused about HIDs
Okay, ive searched and i read about HIDs on this forum. I have a 2000 TL 3.2 and i was wondering that if i wanted those 6000k HID, would i need a complete kit or just the bulbs? Im so confused....

But some people prefer to change them out with higher Kelvin-rated bulbs for that whiter, bluer look. However, this will decrease the overall light output, meaning decreased visibility at night.

Difference in sight between 4300K vs. 6000K is not really noticeable. IMO, because of this minute difference, I went 6000K. Others are right, you can just change your bulb from 4300K to 6000K with just a bulb swap.
D2S and D2R doesn't matter in 02-03 TL(no glare) but on your 99-01 I'm not sure. Probalby stick to D2R. D2R=Metal shield around bulb(for our reflector housings), D2S=naked bulb w/o shield(for Projector housings - looks like the BMW).

Also keep in mind that the ratings of 6000K with different manufacturers will look different. So a Philips 6000K (IMO the best look) will not look the same as the Xentronic 6000K or the Mculloh 6000K. Make sure you look at pics and see what you like first.
And there is a noticeable difference in light output between 4300K and 6000K, those that say there isn't haven't really drove in absolute dark roads. I have 6000K in my HID's and Fogs.
And yes make sure to get the D2R or else that will reduce the amount of usable light as well. D2S are made for projector style housing not for our TL's and therefore the light output though might appear brighter from someone standing outside, but as far as the drivers stand point, most of the light will be scattered all over the place. I not only know this due to research but from experience, I made the mistake of getting D2S.

I've drivin in Los Altos hills... very up scale and no street lights. But yeah, I can see slight loss of light. Not big enough for me, but diminished. I did it for the color... so I'm not reasonable LOL. Reasonable is to use the most light output... so that would be stock.

Yeah in the middle of no where.... middle of the woods on the highway with no other cars in sight. It is decent, definitely less light but I can deal with it. A noticable difference as well. IN the city, it doesnt bother me at all. Sometimes on road trips, I swap in the 4300ks just to be safer with more light otherwise I have the 6000ks in.

dont you haev to take off the headlights to swap the bulbs?? there is no room to just swap them without taking off the bumper, headamps, etc. You go thru all that trouble before a road trip?!?!?
