conditions where you can get a loaner
say you drive half hr to a dealer for service. under what circumstances are you entitled to a loaner? coz' i don't really wanna put my car there at 8 in the morning only to find that i have to hang around there for 8 hrs till 4pm to know whether my car is done or not.
this happened to me with my old toyota. hopefully acura has much better services, but i'd like to know when i can get a loaner (before the dealer tries to rip me off).

ACURA should provide you with a free loaner car anytime your car goes in for warranty work. If the work takes more than a few hours to complete. When you schedule your appt ask the service rep about a loaner car. Some dealers will not give you a loaner car for regular service but for warranty work they should.

I took my car in last week to fix up those minor scratches that were on the car before I picked the car up. I had to make an appointment before I dropped the car off. They gave me a 2000 Acura Integra. The steering wheel felt kinda dirty. But it was pretty much a painless process. Picked up the car that night.

What about Acura's policy on age for a loaner car?
Will they give it to a 19year old?
That was one thing I remember seeing when i was younger and thought was wholly asinine.
If you spend $30 grand on a new car and it needs warranty work -- they should give you a loaner whether your 16 or 68

i don't think age is a problem. as long as you can drive an acura, you can get a loaner. if no, ask for their store manager. if they still deny, tell them that you will go call and ask the acura service department. they will be scared.

Okay, weather the dealer provide loaner car to customer or not, has nothing to do with Acura Customer Relation. I tried, and Acura Customer Relation didn't help at all, not only the loaner, but my problems with the engine and bababa. I tired 4 dealers in Toronto, two of them don't give you a loaner on regular oil change and those kinda serivce. Actually one of them did gave me loaners for oil change and stuff, but then again it depends on who you talk to. Another two dealer won't give me loaner before of my ago. One require you to be 25, and another 21. I think this is toally crazy.
Anyways, Acura totally pisses me off with their crappy quality, lousy service, and $hitty attitude. Again I am not too sure about the states, but it's pretty F up in Canada. And with all 4 of the dealers, I can give you some TRUE stories that I saw, or happened to my friends. You DON"T want to take your car to those dealers anyways.
So, whatever you do, get it on paper, and make sure the service manager, and the store manager both signs it....

I think I mentioned this in another thread: Warranty does not cover the lose of the use of your car. I'm not sure if it's the same deal in the US but that's how it is in Canada. So if you do get a loaner vehicle or if the dealership gets a rental car for you to use, it usually means they're good because it comes out of their "pocket". Despite the fact that they haven't been able to fix some persistent rattles, squeaks, etc., they have always given me loaner when I needed it.

Loaner car
It is true in Canada the dealer does not have to provide a loaner car for warranty work. The dealership in Winnipeg, Crown Acura, told me they were allowed to have 3 loaner cars in service. I never had a problem getting a loaner car, when you book an appointment and ask for date that a loaner is available. When I was waiting for a replacement transmission for my 2000 Tl I had a loaner for 6 weeks. The service manager was loaning his personal car out to customers, because I had a loaner tied up. Finally in the end the General Manager of the dealership, wanted to rent me a Chrysler 300 M to free up the loaner car.It was at this point he told me the dealership did not have to provide a loaner car for warranty work, he could have driven me to a car rental and told me I was on my own. But the dealership wanted to give me a loaner because of the crappy service I was getting from Acura Canada Customer Relations department.
