Post Conditioning Steering Wheel/Shifter?

For those of you with the stock leather steering wheel and shifter, has anyone applied a conditioner like Lexol to the leather. The leather on both seem to be pretty dry and I noticed a chip in the steering wheel leather from my watchband rubbing up against it. Any thoughts? Or is it faux leather that's wrapped on the steering wheel/shifter?

I only clean the steering wheel from time to time if it gets sticky from sweat, grease, lotion, etc...

The shifter seemed not to get as dirty. I cleaned and conditioned it once.

I have replaced it with the burlwood shifter, so now I have to worry about that wood getting old.

Yes, put the conditioner on the steering wheel's outer rim from Lexol. It will soften the leather and keep it nice and clean.

Edub-TL did you just say your wood is getting old. You know they have a pill that might help you with that old wood. You will never have to worry about your old wood again.

The wood "knob" isn't getting old that soon. Still strong and shiny. D
