Comptech Sways Installed

Comptech Sways Installed
Aside from finding that the jack I bought to raise my lowered Integra barely raised the wheels of my TL off the ground -- no real surprises.
I ended up taking it to my friend's shop and using his lift to install the front bar (said jack prevented me from raising the car enough to get under there with enough room to work). The front endlink nuts are a ***** due to their position relative to the rest of the suspension. Also, I wrapped the bar with a few pieces of teflon tape where the bushings contact it. The tape is included with the swaybars but they don't tell you what to do with it.
The handling is notably improved... body roll is significantly reduced. And for those of you who are concerned about side effects (as I was): no strange noises and no ride penalty. Just use all the lube on the rear bar (per the instructions) and it should be smooth sailing. This should be your first suspension mod!

Hmm....the more I read about the sways the more I am tempted. Good thing the Eibach's aren't out yet or I may be in a bit of a bind financially. I'm obviously waiting for the Eibach set since the rear bar will be slightly thicker than the comptech ones, but at the same time I'm afraid to go for the Neuspeed ones since they clearly stated it's not for street use.

See told ya. We wouldnt lie to you. Of all the aftermarket mods out there, this is the only one I feel should have definitely come with the car from the factory. Some modifications are not for everyone, springs for example, they have their tradeoffs, but I just dont see the downside to these sways and I cant understand why Acura didnt put them on their Type-S(Sport) models as part of the standard equipment.
All those mags praising the handling of the stock TL-S "aint seen nothing yet", and to those wishing it had a little better handling, the sways definitely do it.

Man... you guys are going to make me spend money on sways afterall!!!
I was all set, thinkin all I wanted was a bodykit, and a spoiler.. and I'd be done for a while..
But sways and a CAI would be nice..
arrgh!!
But on the bright side.. at least now I have some mods to look forward to so I can keep the fun in the car..

I installed my sways about 2 weeks ago and don't regret it for a second. I feel no side affects, only much better handling. The Comptech springs are due to come in soon. I did the work myself and it is very self satisfying!
Anyone know if you have to re-apply the white tape and more grease to the rear bars after a while?
Anyone on the fence should do this mod. There is no downside!!!

Did yours say for a 99-00 accord/CL?
Any install suggestions for the install?
WDP99 told be that removing the wheels makes it easier, put a 5mm allen in the end of the endlink bolt to keep it from turning when removing the nut, pay attention to which way you have to turn the sways to get them out and reverse that to put them in.

The neuspeed don't need reinforcement if you don't buy the back sway (25mm) just buy the 19mm close to the 22mm comptech sway in the back. LOOK

I'm personally gonna go for the Eibach set whenever they come out with them. I would of gone for the Neuspeed ones if the rear sway didnt need any extra reinforcements.

I told you after reading your post after you installed your sways that I was going to order, arrived yesterday.

WDP99 is right.. you'll need a 5mm allen key to keep the bolt from turning when removing the nut. The tools I used were:
14mm combination wrench (used the box end on the endlink nuts)
5mm allen key - long handle (keeping the endlink bolts from spinning)
3/8" ratchet with small extension
14mm socket for above ratchet (front swaybar bushing mount bolts)
12mm socket for said ratchet (rear swaybar bushing mount bolts)
As far as install suggestions... perhaps taking the wheel off would help, but my jack didn't go very high to begin with so I just used a friend's lift. The only real "issue" is that space is pretty tight and you may have a nut (as did I) that got harder to turn toward the end of the bolt... the hand I was using to hold the 5mm allen key was KILLING me by then.
Getting the front bar out isn't too hard... I got it out on the first try by turning it clockwise (as viewed from the passenger side) while pulling it out from the passenger side. Just reverse the procedure to get the new bar in. The rear bar is a snap.
You can use the install instructions listed in the FAQ as a guide and it'll go smoothly.
Good luck!

The only recommendations I have are in the below post and also most importantly, DO NOT do the install UNLESS you have the exact size allan key/Hex Wrench, and WD-40. Print out the install instructions in our FAQ's, they are a BIG help.

Thanks for the input Radams and Mr.Hyde, I hope that 546 piece craftsman tool set has the right size, but I will make sure I check tonight before I get ready to start!
Hopefully I'll be able to let you know how it goes and what I think of them by tomorrow evening.
Thanks!
I looked at the part number and it was the one listed on Tim's page as being for the TL-S, I found it interesting that it didn't mention the TL-S anywhere on the box

Got your PM, responding here.
After tightening everything up the bar sort of lined itself up. I checked both ends and it looked liked it was spaced evenly on both sides. Then I used the two special fasteners that came with the kit on each side to hold the bar in place.
