Question

Do you have springs as well? I'm not interested in dropping the car, but I am interested in getting the sways installed. It seems that installing just the sways still gives huge benefits over stock, but I like to hear it from as many people as possible!!

Sways and the upper strut bar, they work great together.

Without a doubt! I did springs then sways - sways made a huge noticeable difference in cornering (much more than springs). I believe it was Mr. Hyde that did sways then springs, their opinion was the same - sways made a huge difference. Of a lot of the mod's people are doing this is one of the cheapest - go for it, you will be happy you did--- you will be assimilated

If I get assimilated, does that mean I'll drive better? Does it hurt?

I have been in a TL with springs and soft rubbers and I still think the sways and the upper strut works better, even with stock tires.

A friend of mine installed them for me in his driveway. If you have the proper tools the installation is a breeze. Let me know if I can give you some pointers.

They are easy to do yourself, I had a post awhile back on comptech sways update - that gave a few hints the installation instructions on this sight didn't have, really sped things up. I was done inside of 2 hours.

See the instructions in the FAQ - they have step by step pictures.

Thumbs up Good Job!

Sounds like a good mod to do! If you don't mind... how much to purchase and install them there sway bars? (understanding that not all dealers will charge the same amount for installation)

Thanks,

Vincent

Do you need to jack the car and remove the wheels to install the anti-sways bars. I have ramps but not floor jack and stands...

Yep you'll want to jack up the car, simple hydrolic jack and jack stands for saftey.

No need to remove the wheels, the pain part of the install some where experiencing during install was the fact that you can't move a wrench very far when removing the end links. I took the opposite approach, when and got a socket that has the allen head sticking out, and used the wrench to hold the nut, very quick very painless.

Ramps would work too, especially if your car wasn't lowered yet.

Talking

CarFreak, it is definitely a good week for me. Lots of mods installed during my b-day weekend. Oh my... my credit is gonna explode this month.. Just to clarify that I got my sways installed by Park Ave Acura. The cost was about $400 for parts and labor. Might as well, since I don't have the time to jack up my car to get those babies in. All I can say is I dislike the stock suspension because when I make hard turns my whole body was like push against the driver's door, now the sways definitley minimize that inconvenience. Joey and Binh you are welcome to take my car for a spin when we meet up next time.

Vincent--maybe you need to add sways to your list of "coming attractions"...

There are two types of finishes on the strut bars...they are either chrome or black. Chrome costs alittle bit more, like $10...whoopdee doo..

I had the comptech sway bars installed on my TLS 2 weeks ago, and they do make a HUGE difference...

I don't think I'll do the springs though, because I love the ultra-smooth ride, and I dont want to have to worry about scraping and such...

No experience with the sways but, I went over to your poll and voted for them anyway.

Seriously though, I am seriously considering them and this thread does not help my checking account any.

No problem. I would also like to see how the springs look and feel on your car, since I am considering them.

I just checked and the sways shipped yesterday - same day I ordered them (you da man, Tim!). They are scheduled to be delivered Weds., so I will set aside some time to install them next weekend.

We probably need to have a Houston meet soon. We should probably invite Polyman too, although he just has that cheesy 1st gen TL - and a 2.5L at that.

This from the person who put on sway bars which specifically said, when he ordered them and on the bars themselves, that they are not for street use. Come back and talk to us some more later when you hit a pothole and tear up your frame.
