I have replace my Comptech foam filter in my icebox with the K&N filter as well.

The K&N produces a little more sound but no more power.

Do you still have to clean the K&N and oil it? That's a pain.

Yes you still have to clean and oil the K&N replacement filter although not as often as you have to clean and oil the foam Comptech filter.

Other than a personal preference there is really not much reason to replace the Comptech filter. It is nice to have two filters to exchange, put a clean one in while the other is being cleaned and drying.

Okay I been wondering this question for a short while. I put my ice box in 7000 miles ago. the filter doesnt seem like it will catch any dust or dirt. I think my eng must be getting contaminated with debris. Can someone tell me something that would make me feel more comfortable with this ice box filter?????
