I am going to have my first smog check test soon and I am wondering if I should be prepared somehow since I have comptech headers installed. I am in California and I believe that headers are certified for CA. Should I know any kind of certification number to be prepared (just in case) for some questions or any regular smog check shop will take care about everything...

According to the Comptech web site, the header is CARB legal. You don't have to worry about it.

No you DO have to worry! The burden of proof is on you. You need to be able to produce a CARB certificate OR sticker placed in the engine compartment.

BTW please let me know if they check for headers, as I has OBX & im in cali.

 

Thanks. I've just checked, indeed there is a plate with CARB number on top of the central pipe (front piece). I will do smog check within next month; will post whether they checked for headers.

BTW, I guess there should be members with 99-00 TLs and comptech headers who had smog check done already. May be somebody could share experience...

 

What's nice about GA where I get the smog check done is that they don't even read the exhaust. The guy just plugged his computer to the OBD port and since nothing showed up, I was on my way.

 

Where I do my smog check here in GA, they don't even analyze the exhaust, they just plug their computer into my OBD port and if everything's OK (no fault codes or anything), I'm on my way!! No issue with my CT headers.
