Comptech front sways

Anyone know if I could get the Comptech front sways only from this site?? I recently got into an accident and the front sways were cracked.

(Can you believe it, the guy hit me while I was parked...although it was because he couldn't stop in the snow but still, one should drive slowly when the roads are icy. Just needed to vent.)

Looking to get the Comptech front sways again, but only need the front.

thx

The front sways I believe are pretty much the same as the stock front one. Many people have voiced disappointment at this. Get a Cusco lower arm instead. More worth it.

Comptech - 1 1/16 tubular front = 27mm
Stock - 27.4 mm tubular

does this mean that the factory front sways are better than comptech's??

The other guy's insurance company is paying for a stock front sways and the dealer is gonna put that in for me. Should I just stay with the factory sways?? I'm not considering cusco rite now, but just comparing comptech and factory, which one is better?? Or which one is slightly better??

I've heard that the Comptech has a thicker wall thickness than stock. Outer diameter is pretty much the same as stock. That's why you reuse the stock bushings when you install the the Comptech front bar.

If I were you, I would just contact Comptech and explain your situation. I'm sure they'll sell you just the front. (or at least they should)

Good Luck.

Peiqinglong,

I thought most people were satisfied with "The Set". In combination, they give my car a pretty neutral feel. I've had mine on the edge with all 4 tires singing (close to a 4 wheel slide) which is the way I personally like it. A stiffer front bar would create more understeer unless you stiffened the rear bar proportionately. (with a few general assumptions on your springs and strut settings)

Is your experience different?

How much different are the Comptech and factory??

If performance differences are minimal, i think i'll stay with the factory sways up front and comptech in the rear.

Gohan,

Check out this thread.
http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...tech+sway+bars

It states the front bar is 27mm tubular w/ wall thickness of 4.5mm. If you have the Comptech front that's trashed, you can complete the picture. Take a saw and cut the bar open. Measure the wall thickness and you've got our answer. I would guess that you could get away with a stock front bar. If the other guy is willing to pay, why not go back to Comptech?

Note one thing. Doubling a sway bar's diameter does not double it's stiffness. This article does a good job describing how torsional rigidity works.

It is possible to over stiffen a car with sway bars and get some "Snap oversteer" so bigger isn't always better.

Overall I believe there is a satisfaction, but I recall there were people (perhaps using the word many may have been a bit extreme) that would have perferred the front bar to be more thicker or equal to the rear's. My CT sways are coming perhaps this Sunday and I will have them installed...don't know when, but I doubt I can give a fair view on them due to two facts...1) I have those wonderful stock tires and 2) my Cusco lower arm is actually doing pretty well.
