Comptech Exhaust Install

I have the CT axelback exhuast and was thinking about installing it myself. I have a few questions for those ppl. who have done it.

1) I bought the exhaust used off the blackmarket. It didn't come with any mounting hardware, just the two mufflers. Will I be able to use the nuts/bolts off my old exhuast?

2) Since currently away at school, I only have basic tools. I don't have a jack/ramp/stand to lift the car with. Will this be a problem?

3) Will it be hard to remove the old exhaust? Should I buy some sort of a lubricant to loosen the old bolts? If so, what type of lube would u recommend?

4) The instructions that comptech has on their website for installing the exhaust are atrocious. Does anyone have good instructions, or is this whole procedure fairly intuitive - I can just look under the car and know exactly what I have to undo?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I install my comptech exhaust a while back. It is not hard, but it does require you to jack up the end of the car for clearance. The stock bolts will not work on the comptechs, you will need to go to a hardware store to match the bolts. You can use WD40 to loosen you stock bolts. As for the tools I used two rachets with socket, I think the size was 10mm, but I could be wrong. Oh, if you don't have all the right tools, take it to a local gas station or something and asked them to get the swapped. Shouldn't cost more than 20 - 30 bucks. Save you a lot of time and headache.

If it's only axelback it will be extremly easy to install. The old stock exhaust will be somewhat hard to get off (more depending on the year, mileage, and condition). All you'll need is WD-40 and a GOOD socket-wrench not the shit from target because it will break I went through 3 or 4 installing mine. No jack needed just put on the E-Brake and get under the car and get to work. TOkk about 45 minutes to install very easy for the do-it-yourselfer.

Stock Bolts do work. They are just a pain in the ass to get on and will double the time of the installation.

Thanks for all the ininput.

I've never used a socket-wrench before. It's for taking bolts off right? Would a regular wrench not work?

So what's the deal with the stock bolts exactly? Why would they be a pain to get on?

Don't know about reusing the stock bolts. I tried to "pop" the stock bolts out too hard since they were threaded onto the stock exhaust. A ramp would be outstanding if available, just need enough room for leverage to "wrench" the nuts out. So go out to ACE Hardware or someplace similar and buy stainless steel nuts and bolts also 2 washers per bolt. Should be fine took me 45 minutes since I had to run to the hardware store to purchase some washers. Good luck in the install.
