Cool Comptech Air Filter...which side up[date]

Darn...gotta get my screwdriver again.

Contrary to popular belief...the red side goes up...

E-mail from Comptech:

"The courser side of the filter sits upward and the finer pores sit toward
the bottom of the air box."

I was wondering about that! I've been using it backwards since I got it then. I took it out last week to clean and had to wait on the cleaner and oil. I used the stock air filter in the meantime. When I was cleaning and oiling, I was wondering why the yellow side didn't face the ground.

Thanks for the info.
Peter.

Red side down and the yellow up. I think that's how I have it on my car. you should remove the resornator to gain more performance. The resornator is the big black box that's under the airbox and behind the bumper.

They made a mistake, it is the other way around

Just think how the filter is suppose to work, dirt first goes in the coarse side (red) and filters through to the fine side of the filter (yellow)

So red side goes down, yellow up

Red face

Are we sure about it this time guys? I'm going to have to once again, take out my filter, clean it, oil it, and then replace it! I just did this today! I just got the oil and cleaner last week and I've oiled and cleaned 3 times.

Talking

Alright, here's the 411. To confirm what Tim said, I got an email from Comptech today that says that the courser pores (the red side) faces the incoming air. That means that red side faces down and yellow side faces up. Thanks for the info guys. Sweeeet! I get to go clean and oil my filter again! :p

Wow, I can't believe the confusion! Why didn't Comptech just stencil the word "BOTTOM" on the bottom side of the filter?

The red (coarse) side faces the incoming air (down).

It should be clear now

So what you're trying to say is that the red side faces down?!?
